Froch beats Lacy any time - Lacy ain't ****, Froch is, at worse, a good champion and personally I think he has a couple of twists left in his career.

 Except it wasn't "the same Reid" at all, was it? Calzaghe went life and death with a prime Reid, Lacy beat a years past-prime version of Reid. The Reid of 1999 would have whipped Lacy's overhyped ass, no sweat.

And styles don't always make fights - quality has a lot to do with it too.

After Castillo arguably beat Mayweather, most people agreed the style to beat Floyd was someone who comes forward, throws a lot of punches, throws bodypunches, and uses pressure and infighting. Ricky Hatton fought in exactly that style vs Floyd, but still got his ass handed to him because at welterweight he was not as effective as Castillo was at lightweight.

You can't just say "styles make fights" and expect that to constitute a reasoned argument, because boxing history is littered with instances where one guy has overcame an apparently disadvantageous stylistic match-up simply because he was the superior fighter.

You know the saying "cream rises to the top"? That was what applied to Mayweather and Hatton... and that's what would apply to Froch and Lacy. Froch is clearly the superior fighter. He would dominate the horribly limited, C-class Lacy, as would any A or B class fighter with a skillset and some ring IQ.

    Class dismissed.

True. And 31 out of 32 American boxing writers also predicted a Lacy win. Having made that point however, many on here forget just how destructive and dangerous Lacy was BEFORE his fight with Calzaghe.

Great, great fight. Lacy's winging bombs would find Froch, as would Froch's own shots find Lacy's. I'd say they're both about equal for power, equally hittable, but Lacy has the better chin whereas Froch is more awkward. This would be epic. Could see both fighters having to get off the deck.

And 18 out of 20 'experts' polled by The Ring picked Oscar to beat Pacquiao. Experts can and do get it very, very wrong.

Anyone who had seen Lacy fight Omar Sheika before he fought Joe knew that Lacy was an overhyped nothing... and so it proved both in the Calzaghe fight and afterwards. Lacy was just a C-class fighter who feasted on bums BEFORE he fought Joe.

    Froch. Lacy was extremely overrated.
