With all due respect to Foreman, he's made quite a bit of laughably generous claims. Such as saying he would've lost to FOTC Frazier for one.

 

I should've elaborated. Louis is my number 2 on an ATG basis. Regarding H2H though, he was dropped by men like Galento, and Buddy who were not very good, and while powerful, they should've never landed on him in the first place.

I also think his ring IQ is a bit overrated. He failed to adjust against Schmeling in their first bout though to be fair he was very young (and I also think his durability was never quite the same after that), then there's the Conn bout. Don't get me wrong, he was second to none at adjusting in rematches, but as for on the spot ring adjustments, guys like Ali, and Liston (very very underrated in this department) were far better.

I acknowledge I'm absolutely in the minority, but while I agree Louis was a very special heavyweight and a top two ATG for sure, their is a bit of a question mark, regarding how he'd do H2H against later ATGs.
