Commentators calling Brooks a "formerly very hyped PBC prospect" seems a little hyperbolic, considering I've literally never heard of him.

Assuming he's a Lamont Peterson fanboy, though, given that he took on the moniker "Havoc"

 

Round 1

Fair amount of holding, but at least they're working on the inside with their free hands, both hitting the body while tangled in the pocket. At range, Brooks is actually busier and getting in more touches with the jab. Truax has the heavier mitts, though, cracking Brooks with an overhand right to back him up at one point and then slugging in a few hard underhanded body shots.

Round 2

Truax charges in more aggressive to start this frame, nailing Brooks with a 1-2 and driving him into a corner. Brooks holding and slapping Truax's sides. Several jabs in a row from Brooks, all blocked but keeping Truax shut down offensively while Brooks circles out. Truax shoves him against the ropes and uses an outstretched open palm to nudge him into place and set up more body work, but Brooks is able to circle by with the jab and get things out to ring center, where he leans in against Truax and trades body blows with him. Both strap each other across the jaw with hooks. Brooks grazing either side of the clean-shaven dome of Truax with jabs.

10-9 Brooks, close, hurt early but just barely clawed his way back ahead.

Truax trying to bully Brooks, impose his physicality and throw bombs up close. Brooks outworking him on the body but Truax landing harder. Brooks moving laterally and throwing pot shots, doubling up on hooks low and high. Truax waiting too much, letting the man 12 years his junior be first, produce more, and get moving without taking a receipt.

Truax was a -435 favorite.

 

Brooks stamping the face of Truax with his right cross, moving nonstop and keeping the jab pumping, and delivering thumping body shots every now and then slowing Truax's advance. Mark Nelson warns him for a few allegedly straying low but they seemed fine. Truax is loading up on solo pinball-launcher right hands but they're mostly skidding off Brook's left bicep.
