Who would have won this battle of Puerto Rican Cruiserweight champions if these guys had fought a unification fight in the early '80's.

I think Deleon was the better fighter. He could box or punch. He had a similar style to Benitez but wasn't as good defensively (who was).

The Cruiserweight division was new at the time, and most of the top fighters in the division obviously came from other divisions. Deleon had moved up, while Ocasio had moved down.

Both guys were counterpunchers so it would be a tactical battle. I think Deleon was the more fluid mover. Even though Ocasio moved down, he wasn't much of a puncher, even at Cruiser.

I think Deleon would win a UD in an interesting tactical fight, but one which probably would be devoid of much action.

I'll go with the above statement.
