I get that most people here maybe don´t speak spanish, so I will do a translation of the main parts. Since this fight has been long being discussed and, to my knoweldge there is no film out there. Goles was a magazine in Argentina that was mainly about Football (soccer, Fútbol) but they made Boxing reports many times. The report is here https://argentoteca.blogspot.com/2021/09/goles-n-973-9-mayo-1967.html?q=el+grafico ------------- * It says that Monzón rocked Briscoe in the second round with a right hand counter. * Briscoe was good at cutting the ring off and Monzón was caught retreating a lot * Monzón was gun shy *Briscoe punished Monzón with body punches, so much that Monzón´s body got bruises that could be seen during the fight * Monzón got tired and Briscoe won most of the rounds * they don´t provide a scorecard but say that the draw was fair (considering that you had to win by 3 points at least to get the decision) keep in mind that the report says that Briscoe was better anyway;
Carlos Monzon was a smart fighter not a gun shy fighter, take a look at their second bout on Nov 11 1972 in Luna Park Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Monzon defended his title very handily, he did show his mettle as champion especially in round 9 when he was rocked by a hard right hand delivered by Bennie Briscoe and withstood it without touching the canvas. Remember Carlos started his pro career in Feb 1963, in May 1967, he had been a professional when he fought Briscoe for the first time, a learning experience.
