I see both Monzon and the 160-Jones Jr having their chins tested at some point. Monzon passes that test. Jones Jr? Not so much.

Based on what I have seen on film from Monzon, I favour Jones by points win. But maybe I missing something when watching Monzon.

Jones was a great athlete so no problem with somebody picking him. Simply Carlos was Carlos at mw the king

I just never was that impressed by Monzon on film. He looks slow and predictable although he is a master at timing and distance, dictating the pace with the jab. I think Monzon would do OK defensively, I just do not seem being very effectively offensively given Jones super reflexes.I see a fight where few punches are landed. Jones speed and combos are likely to catch the eyes of the judges and give him a clear but competitive UD.

Napoles landed a lot of counters though, many of them counter jabs, Roy was harder to counter.

Here you are again, with the:

"Judging by what happened to him when he slowed a little"

    How is that relevant?

Roy didn't slow until he was 35 after he'd dropped down from HW.

He was 25 when he left MW.

Guys like Monzon would have needed to have had the perfect opportunity to have caught Roy at 25. The question is:

Would he or anyone else have been given that opportunity?

Hagler would have a better chance of getting to Roy, as he was faster and he was a southpaw.

You say that Roy has question marks, but so does Carlos. Although Carlos was a legend at MW, he never fought anyone like Roy.

He had great power and a great jab, but personally, I think he was too slow and hittable.

    Me too.

    He was a great fighter.

    Lots of great attributes.

I think Roy would have been too fast for him though.

Was just watching Monzon last night watched the Valdes fight when he was 35.

Think he would knock out Jones eventually. Jones always probably had a weak chin he was just so good that he never got hit that much. I think Monzon is good enough though to out point Jones especially over 15, but don’t think Jones could take much of Monzons right hands.

Roy never had a great chin, but it was decent.

If Carlos was going to win, it would have by catching him and hurting him.

He wouldn't have out pointed him.

Roy's speed would have given him fits.

Carlos was very slow in comparison.

You clearly just don't know what you're talking about...and ignorance, even if it's an opinion, always needs to be called out.

Charlietf, I don't mind a dissenting opinion, like saying Jones would beat him,...but really, "losing every round"...not able to land a punch??? I've never heard of an elite boxing great getting that much disrespect,...outside of Tunney maybe. It was a dumbass post and an embarrassingly bad opinion & analysis, and like I said, that kind of **** needs calling out. Just imagine if I had disrespected Duran or Ali in some ridiculous way on this forum,...why the self righteous outrage against me would be momentous, probably culminating in mass ridicule, just short of a ban.

You know, I think you're on to something there. Good advice...I really don't enjoy getting into spitting and hissing contests with other posters.
