Desperate times call for desperate measures. And oh yeah Hagler hit as hard as BENNIE! Whose fights I went to many times. Get real creep.

But Wilson got torched by Shane; no one 'torched' Carlos. He was certainly more of an Eastwood. As for Palance? Watch him as 'Torvald' in 1961's Barabbas with Anthony Quinn. The epitome of evil! As a Christian this film always moved me on a variety of levels, for Christian and non-Christian alike. Watch Palance humiliate Quinn at the gladiator school; what a foreshadowing scene!

Am I the only one who thinks of Vitali Klitschko as a poor man's Monzon?

You Monzon fans are so enthralled by the legend, you really won't see the facts. But l will try to point them out to you at the risk of being shot in my sleep. And in MY opnion he is severely overrated on this forum. 1st who did he actually beat? E.Grifith? Had been fighting since the late 50's and a natural welter. J.Napoles? Same issues as Griffith, and he was a small welter. R.Valdez? A big puncher certainly but was he considered a great fighter? Only in the minds of Monzons fans. Their only validation. Nino Benvineneti? Really! 2nd, the eye test. I've watched quite a few Monzons fights from beginning to the end. Unlike most on this site, I will take a look, AND TRY to see what his fans see. And not just bits and pieces but entire fight. And no he isn't close to the best middle I've seen. His hands are slow, his feet are slow. He leans out the way of most punches, but the caliber of competition isn't good enough or physically athletic enough to take advantage of it. He was nothing special in other words. He came along at the right weight, and the right time when the middles were certainly exciting. But nothing special as far as talent goes. No, he doesn't beat Hagler or R.Jones, or Walker, or Greb or Robinson. Probably don't beat Hearns or Leonard in or close to prime. I see all those fighters I listed seeing those slow, telegraphed punches a mile away, and the slowness of his feet given them plenty of time to get out the way of any serious retaliation. Just like Marciano, and J.Louis, his legend of his physical ability far outweighs what's on film. Even more so when it comes to Monzon and his fans. At least most Marciano, and Louis fans will concede that they probably don't beat prime Ali. Monzon fans make it seems he was totally unbeatable. Like Mayweather jr Monzon came along at the right time, their was no one really special during his run that didnt have a very serious question mark about them. Please stop with the unbeatable machine nonsense. Because as far as we know, he may have pulled a Duran in New Orleans under a little stress.

Gee thx skippy for the eye opening analysis. Is Klompton yr daddy? You post is so full of crap one cant even begin to argue with you. I will say, being a Louis and Marciano fan, they BOTH KO Ali. What is life like on the pedestal? Is the air thin up there? Good night creepo

hell yeah he's overrated. he looks better than what he actually is becuz the competition wasnt there

people try to make Bennie Briscoe out to be better than he was for the sake of being able to say Monzon's competition was formidable

Monzon knocking out Hagler is about as likely as Locche koing Pryor. It's comical sometimes to hear people talk about Monzon.
