Monzon was huge for the weight both height and lengthwise, had a stellar jab, one of the best ever, very good foot and head movement when he needed it and had an extremely high workrate combined with excellent stamina. Need I mention his power and brilliant chin? Plus he was great at timing people so he nullified even the best of defences, that's why he didn't need to use speed to beat guys. Over 15 rounds I think he could wear Canelo down and get a wide UD or possible very late stoppage (more due to exhaustion rather than cracking Canelo's great chin). This is only if the conditions were equal for both fighters going into the fight so no A side nonsense could ruin the result.
Canelo has very good speed and countering ability, but he is low output for a reason and although flashy with his head movement isn't actually that good at getting inside a good one two due to his plodding footwork. Not to mention that his power is only pretty good, but nothing to write home about.

Canelo in a pretty sound drubbing. Canelo is getting better with every fight. I don't if you guys have noticed. (LOL)

He's getting so good, people are questioning if what they are seeing is actually real. And he just turned 30.

    Might get even better.

i dont think he can trouble monzon. monzon would just walk him down until the inevitable stoppage, he beat all the top middleweights of his era, was briefly stunned only once in one of his fights against briscoe, had a killer 1-2 and a jab that was nearly impassable, plus an incredible gas tank that allowed him to keep a good workrate for the full 15 rounds. being bigger , i think he is a hard counter for canelo style.

Styles make fights. In a thriller Monzon on points but the one I would to see is The Great Dick Tiger vs Canelo.

Would be interesting to see how a “clean” Alvarez would come out, fighting Giardello 4 times, Fullmer 3 times and Jose Torres twice, like Tiger did!

Why? When he fought we knew by his boxing name Dick Tiger not his real name Richard Ihetu. We call Canelo by his boxing not his real name Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan.

I am just saying that his first name gets filtered out on this site, not that I necessarily agree with the logic of it.

This is getting crazy, he only beat [insert ANY fighter's name]!!!And a shot-to-hell Kovalev...

It's not that he beat Smith, it's how he did it, and considering his disadvantages.

Canelo is peaking, and has the best resume in the sport.

    Let's be honest.

At 155,5lb, springing a 3 week camp on Monzon, while filled to the ears with clenbuterol, Canelo might actually do this.

Under normal circumstances, I think Monzon decisions him.

Canelo didn't enjoy Golovkin's jab and Monzon has a very long and nasty one. Canelo also got clipped several times coming in by Golovkin and Monzon did that sort of thing too.

I think the Shotgun takes it down the stretch.
