Not sure if this has been on already. Set at 15 rounds, let's see how Carlos would fare against an opponent he would not have any physical advantages over.
I hope you're not implying that Monzon struggles with a guy that got put on his back by Taylor, and Groves. Monzon would beat the **** outta Froch. Froch's size edge wouldn't be enough to overcome the HUGE HUGE gap in class.
Just remind us again. What were the results of the Taylor and Groves fights? It's one thing putting Froch on his ****, it's quite another keeping him there. Monzon could well win on points, but he ain't gonna beat the **** out of Froch, and he'd have more chance of coming back to life than knocking him out.
I'd take Monzon. Froch is a wee bit bigger and maybe stronger. but those are the only advantages he has. Monzon by UD over 12 or 15.
Shut it. To compare me to ESB trolls is ridiculous. Monzon is well overrated, his middleweight era was poor. When did he ever beat someone Froch's size? It's outfighting plus superior speed and athleticism that causes Froch problems. Monzon will just outbox him will he? Sure. It's unlikely he punches as hard as Kessler, who weighed at least 180lbs.
I'm assuming we're bringing Monzon into the modern era, and giving him a 24-hr weigh-in. Monzon was simply a better fighter than Froch AND Kessler. Is he overrated sometimes? Yes. Some people hold Monzon on a God-like pedestal, and those people do overrate him. But to pick him over a Froch isn't overrating him at all. Froch has FAR too many defensive holes, and technique flaws to beat Monzon. Monzon was one of the most accurate punchers of all time, and skill wise he was simply on a different planet than Froch. He'd slowly pick him apart, and by the late rounds Froch would be taking a beating.
I don't see how Monzon, who wasn't that fast, would be at a size and reach disadvantage, and wasn't exactly a defensive savant, would be able to beat Froch so handily. Chong-Pal Park, quite possibly, but not Froch.
Monzon. The difference in overall ability is obvious. Froch was/is very good but Monzon was one of the greatest middles ever and would be comfortable at 168 lbs.
