Monzon by late stoppage. Monzon would keep him at bay with the left jab and punish him with heavy and slashing right hands all night. Greb's windmill style would not work with the cold, calculating Monzon. Greb's courage may enable him to last the full 15, but a wide margin loss would result.
Dont know, these fights between the very top class of middles are the hardest to pick imo . I'll just say Monzon , dont know why , but h2h i favor him . I have Greb higher on a MW ATG list though
Harry Greb absolutely destroyed every fighter who tried to fight him at long range from heavyweight downwards. I dont think that Monzon would be an exception. I would give middleweights like Marvin Hagler, Jake Lamotta, Tony Zale, and Marcel Cerdan a better chance of beating Greb.
Greb stopped less than 50 people in 300 fights, and you think he stops one of the hardest men to stop in the hisotory of the sport? I think not. Greb UD though.
If Greb had fought in an era when referres stopped fights his KO ratio would have skyrocketed and would include Gene Tunney.
Somtimes the bloodthirsty fans screamed for the fight to be stopped. Somtimes the police intervened to prevent homicide. Somtimes the corner threw in the sponge/towel. On some ocasions the fighter delivering the beatdown quit for fear of killing his oponent. Generally the fighter had to enforce his own TKO by quitting before he died.
I definitely think Greb will get inside Monzon, but I feel that prime Monzon would beat Greb. His immense physical strength and adaptability would really bother Greb. I feel that most fighters had trouble with Greb as they were overwhelmed by a fighter who fought so differently from anything they had every faced before. With Monzon durability, intelligence, and physical strenght I feel that he would eventually figure out the "human windmill" I basically see Greb taking the early rounds but I feel that Monzon could slow him down just enough to eventually win the fight. Monzon by extremely close UD.
