Nonsense that Jackson hit harder. He had better speed, timing and accuracy. He didn't do much with Thomas Tate above junior-middle because he couldn't find that one timed shot to the right spot, so went to the body. You'd bet anything on Benn tearing through Thomas Tate early with brute power.
I agree he was pretty much unstopable cleanly but i wouldn't rule out a ref mercy stoppage here especially if it was 15 rounds becuase Monzon would be beating him up very badly at the end.
I highly doubt that, unless Eubank just kind of let him? Monzon wasn't a come-forward brute who walked through punches, he worked behind his jab expertly and threw mostly straight punches from a distance? Eubank liked to posture on the edge of range and move his head just fraction of an inch at the last moment to evade shots. It would be a slow paced bore of a fight of course. If Monzon just threw caution to the wind for some reason (?) he'd be countered sharply and stopped on cuts before long.
Eubank would not even get on this inside. From the ouside Monzon controls the pace. Easy UD for Monzon.
Eubank wasn't very good at getting inside. He liked to control the pace. I wonder if you guys have seen Carlos and Chris fight. Neither were brawlers at all.
Monzon's a better more educated boxer with a higher work rate with a stiff jab and he had a good chin. He'd outwork and outscore Eubank. Monzon UD over 12, he might stop Chris over 15. If not, still a UD.
Eubank is not in Monzons class. Completely different skill level. Only way Eubank would of taken that fight is if he had spunked all his money on toys.......again.
Monzon as and when he wants, he would prob start slowly ( as always ) see how competitive Eubank was prepared to be, and adjust accordingly, if he felt he could win without too much effort , it would have been a points, if on the other hand Eubank starting getting fresh !! Carlos with have turned up the burners, and prob stopped him. With fighters like Monzon ( and Napoles, Foster, etc, ) because they are such good/great fighters with enormous self belief, for them the fight is always winnable on all levels, its only when the opponent is better than expected, or when the champ its cut/hurt, will you see a great champion step up and impose his will, normally they are ok with the status quo IMO. Going forward, surely Monzon can only be pitted against Greb, Hagler, SRR to make a serous discussion No ?
Unless Tate tagged him first, G-man fought badly after nearly knocking Benn out, Tate was harder to hit than G-man and Galvano nearly stopped Benn in the final round of their rematch, Jackson was more effective at 154 though, there`s no way in hell Benn could have stopped a fighter like a prime Terry Norris.
Cuts ??? Monzon cut , you sure, nether have I read that Monzon was cut, in all of his fights, you had better come up with a better scenario than that mate.
Monzon fought on the front foot more pumping a constant jab, Eubank missed most of his leads and often fell off balance because he tried to launch a punch fromtoo far out, Eubank was just a counter puncher.
How many one punch KO`s did Benn score? He knocked out Sherry with one shot but I can`t rember him stopping anyone else with one shot, Jackson stopped Graham and Norris with shot in each of those fights and he hurt G-man more than Benn did despite losing. Benn wa out boxing G-man at 168 but it ws clear G-man hit harder, Watt even mentioned that early on in that bout.
