Just checked on the interwebs and to my surprise I have literally not seen a single post on any website ever about this matchup :0 Who takes it, why, and by KO or by UD?
We're talking about a guy who didn't need to cut to make 160 versus a guy who cuts around 10-15lbs to fight at 175.
Bivol is the bigger man but he did have a lot of trouble in the rematch with a 40 year old Beterbiev until Artur faded .. The best MOnzon I ever saw was the animal that beat up Nino in the first fight ... he was super strong, tough , tireless and lethal. Monzon matches him in height and has 3 -4 " in reach ... If Monzon had ability to train up like Crawford did to fight Canelo I say he has a terrific shot at a decision although it would be more certain over 15 than 12 rounds ...

Don't know what weight we're talking here. Bivol said many times he could make 168. Im gonna go with the in between 168 to keep it fair. Monzon UD. I can't see Bivols Soviet amateur style and lack of power doing anything with Monzon. Over 15 Monzon might even stop him.

The reason is that Bivol, while not a huge 175lbs, would likely be considered a big 175lbs in the same day weigh in era, and Monzon was big for his weight (160lbs) but the distinction is that he was big for his same day weigh in era. With that said, Bivol is likely as much bigger than Monzon as the difference between the weight divisions, which is 15lbs, and Monzon’s style was tailored to dominating guys smaller than himself, (nothing wrong with that because he had those advantages, so why not use them?), he wasn’t quick, but used his reach well and had a great judgement of distance. If Monzon does happen to be smaller in size to an opponent, he must either be rangier than them, or if he’s not, he can’t be slower than them. Bivol is slightly taller than Monzon, and he certainly appears quicker, so Monzon wouldn’t be able to control the fight on the outside, and he also wouldn’t have the option of trying to bully Bivol, since Bivol is bigger. So I don’t see a path to victory for Monzon, other than maybe a very slim punchers’ chance, since the speed will mean Bivol likely beats him to the punch on the outside, and the size means Monzon won’t be able to take it to Bivol. Also, stylistically, Monzon kind of relied on being able to land the jab and long punches at range, and then leaning back out of the way, but you need to be able to control the fight from range to be able to box that way. I see a relatively wide points decision for Bivol due to the style matchup. However, I do respect the way you reply regardless of when you agree or disagree.
