I didn't score every punch for him, but I'll score aggression over complacency easily, regardless of effectiveness. Holyfield was outworking him throughout the fight, and landing more punches because of it, even though Qawi made him miss a good deal with his head movement as well. Qawi was simply not active enough to pick up many rounds for me. When he let his hands go he did well, but it was too few and far between.
Not only have i seen the fight but i have it recorded on tape, as well as all of Holyfields fights. The fight was close and the rounds was hard to judge because both men were landing their share of blows. Holyfield edged it out, but Qawi definitely won more than 4 rounds. One judge has Qawi winning by 2 points. Another judge had Evander winning by four points so it was a close fight and the majority of the judges seen it that way.
Monzon is the ATG of this pairing...but this isn't a fair fight for the middleweight champ. Monzon doesn't have anything to keep Qawi off of him.
Monzon never fought at LHW. Qawi could not or did not prefer to fight as a MW. So, why should this fight happen at all? Not fair.
I must Agree, not exactly a fair Match for Carlos, against a fighter who was could enought, despite his height and reach disadvantages, to rise some hell at cruiser as well, Carlos had his hands full, and was wobbled in the 9th, against Bad Bennie Briscoe, who didnt take a backwards step in the 15 rounds of their title fight, I can picture the Camden Buzzsaw Chewing Carlo's body up on the ropes round after round, Carlos would have to fight a very negative fight to survive the course i feel, Dwight's Ability to Dip-Slip-and-Rip may find Carlos very frustrated having to punch down and being countered on Dwights upswing, a painful frustrating night for Carlos i fear.
