I think someone went to the wishing well too much, Carlos Monzon could take a punch, I am sure Tommy Hearns cannot, that has been proven, Lol.

I’ve just got to get this out there.

Your avatar seems to have subliminally embedded itself deeply inside my brain.

Every time I read one of your posts it’s always William H Macy (with cig hanging out of his mouth) I see and hear expressing himself in cool fashion.

Probably has something to do with him being one my favourite actors. I think I need to get myself a cool avatar now……I might get taken more seriously then…haha.

While it's highly unlikely Hearns blows out Monzon such focused statements seldom if ever work. If they did he would never have knocked Duran out.

Eddie Pace (32-22-1 with 6 previous stoppage losses) goes 10 rounds with Monzon yet Monzon yet Monzon stops Nino Benvenuti 4 months later? There's hundreds of examples.

Kalambay never got blown out either until he met up with Nunn who stopped him early

Someone like Tommy who is fast and sharp, did it to Duran who had never been stopped and I think he would get Carlos in trouble

Why would it be worse than Hagler?

Your opinion is respected but Tommy did not have the best chin or stamina, he got flattened by a Welterweight in Sept 1981, Sugar Ray Leonard. He got starched by Marvelous Marvin Hagler, April 1985. Later against Iran Barkley in 1988.Carlos Monzon is no smallish blown up lightweight Roberto Duran. Monzon ruled the middleweight division for 7 years, 1970-1977, he retired as champion, 14 title defenses, something Hagler was unable to do, he lost to a fighter that had come back. I do not want to hear excuses, the licensed boxing officials ruled against him, maybe he should have fought someone else instead of Leonard. So Tommy can hit, what would happen if someone like Monzon with 61 KO's lands his right hand on china chin Tommy? Monzon was never kayoed, got up from that rocket right hand of Rodrigo Valdes on July 30 1977, went on to fight the rest of the bout to score a unanimous decision win. Carlos had an 82 bout unbeaten streak dating back to Oct 9 1964, he avenged his three decision losses and defeated 8 of the 9 men he had draws with, the 9 th fighter refused a rematch. Hey different strokes for different folks but comparing Monzon to Duran is funny.

They refuse to learn Richard....it goes in circles and you have to repeat yourself to them again and again...the part about the middles of the 70's being inferior, Monzon picking on smaller, and older welters, Briscoe getting robbed vs Monzon in Argentina back in the 60's, ph, and did you hear the one about Duran vs Hearns....when, after getting dropped face first by Hearns, he raised up his head off the deck about 2 or 3 inches? Yeah, that proves that Duran could take Hearn's power, unlike Monzon, who didn't have the speed, was too slow, etc..the Fab Four, the Fab Four, Fab four, Fab Four, Fab Four,.blah blah, blah, blah, blah,....it goes on and on and on and on and on with these guys...

    Yes

A shopworn Welterweight Emile Griffith went the route with Monzon. He didn't have the height, range or firepower that Hearns possessed. Yet Monzon would stop Hearns? See how that works both ways. Anyone can Cherrypick a fight.

Maybe if Hearns hands get sore he'll get tired.

To me The Fab Four were The Beatles, John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Lol. I forgot Monzon is disliked because he does not speak English, I get it, he is not trying to be a cheap imitation of Muhammad Ali, he was his own man.
