Only way Monzon can win is on points, he can't KO him no frigging way:-(, and to do that he would have to be able to keep Lamotta off him for 15 rounds, not an easy task, Jake would be a "slight underdog here, but i see the Bronx bull pulling off an upset by a razor thin decision, no funds to wager on this one:think
Monzon couldn't stop LaMotta on the best day he ever saw. But he can score a UD, which is how I see it.
Serious question? Is Lamotta the most overrated boxer in history? Apparently so Lamotta wouldn't have a hope in hell against Monzon, unless his hometown judges gave it to him because he brought the Italian dollar in.
Agree. Don't see what all the fuss about LaMotta is about. His best wins were against a 15 lbs smaller Robinson, an old Holman Williams and an injured Cerdan. Monzon dominated his division for a decade. Monzon didn't have Ray's speed, but I think he has the power, craftiness and reach to keep it on the outside for the most part. And it's not like he fell apart on the inside like Hearns either. He was a strong man.
Yeah. I'd probably say so. When I see Burley ranked among top 10 MWs I certainly don't see much in his record to justify that, but at least we have the extremely high praise he received from men like Futch and Moore. In LaMotta's case it's probably the movie that does the trick.
Monzon would probably cruise to a unanimous decision in a 15 rounder with Jake. I'd imagine he'd fight him from the outside most of the night and have a very high jab output. It's a bad matchup stylistically for lamotta.
