Luis Rodriguez could have gotten a shot against Monzon had he not been KO’d in a comeback of the year fight with Nino Benvenuti, who would be the one to challenge Monzon twice. How well do you see Rodriguez do against the MW Kingpin Monzon? For me it would be a much more competitive version of the Napoles fight, but I think Monzon would eventually figure out Rodriguez and win either on points or late stoppage.
I actually think it'd look more like the Griffith fights. Rodriguez shows how good he is, but the bigger, better ring general wins a fair decision.
Rodriguez was well past his best by that time and didn't have the size to beat a strategist like Monzon.
Gross mismatch, Rodriguez gets battered fairly easy, cant see him landing a punch on Carlos, if he does, it will have no effect what-so ever. For future ref, only match Carlos with Middle weights , and make them only : Greb, Hagler, or SRR.
King Carlos Monzon stops Luis Manuel Rodriguez in round 7, Carlos walks down Luis, landing combination after combination, battering his foe into submission. Carlos is too big and too strong.
Rodriguez would give him a good fight, but I think Carlos would gradually begin to dominate the action as the fight goes into its last stages Dec win for Monzon.
