How would this one have played out? it's always been one fantasy matchup that's intrigued me due to both fighters styles.

Monzon knocks him ala Benvenuti, only in 9 rounds.

Given Nunn's superior range and speed, I can definitely envision him pulling a monumental upset win by points.

I slightly agree. On his very best day I think theres an intriuging chance Mike could have edged Carlos.

Nunn's best victory was against an aged slugger in Iran Barkley, Monzon would grind him down and spit him out...I love Nunn but seriously!

Nunn is more athletic and that's it. Monzon beats him up, and beats him down. Late stoppage.

I`d take Nunn over 12 rounds every time tbh... 15 rounds could go either way, Monzon might get to Nunn late but then again Nunn could see it out, I wouldn`t bet on a 15 rounder, at least not big money anyway.

Nunn on points for me since I think Monzon needs a knockout to win, interesting fight tho, never thought of this one before actually.

Nunn showed defects in his best showings. And Marlon Starling managed to get close to him. Monzon would get into the fight eventually and then he'd spark Nunn.

Nunn was a phenomenal talent but not the sum of his parts consistently enough for me to think he could beat a champion the calibre of Monzon.

    Why would you take Nunn?

This would be a unique stylistic challenge to Monzon, as Nunn is taller and more athletic than he is. In the end, it wouldn't matter, though. Monzon has great timing, and in the event he could not zero in that one-two, he was capable of using his strength and roughing it up.

Monzon would use the style he used vs Benvenuti. He would rough up Nunn and take him out with a right hand, like I said before, ala Benvenuti. There is a huge difference in class here.

I will never forget Toney cold cocking Nunn........and Monzon always kept throwing heavy punches throughout a 15 rd fight.

Monzon just too rough for Nunn.

Its a styles thing, I think his speed & boxing ability would be bad for Monzon tbh... Monzon I feel would have to catch Nunn & hurt him bad at one point because I don`t see him winning enough rounds for a points win or landing enough consistently to wear Nunn down.

I would expect Monzon to finish stronger but he`d be playing catch-up on a rounds basis... at his best Nunn was a great fighter himself, I think he has the tools to outbox Monzon.

I don't think Nunn was 'great' at any point of his career. Certainly very talented but as I say, many flaws as well.
