You miss great copious amounts of everything,..especially anything having to do with Carlos Monzon,...but it's now becoming so virtually entertaining that you're almost at the level of a "flat earther" or some other kind of terminally obtuse element of society that no one bothers to seriously engage with or try to correct or debate or anything.

That's right Mark, you stick to your consistently wrong and un thought out assumptions and you'll always be wrong,....but you'll also believe that you've always been right. You'll always be asking yourself "why is it that I'm always right, and no one ever seems to take me seriously for all my trouble?

    I like Mike

At peak condition, he's very fluid and hard to hit

Smart too. How about that RING IQ!

and with a smart fight plan in place, I would favor a points win. I saw a video which Carlos said he didnt do well with southpaws

Although he is violent, he would never lie

Your post made me chuckle this morning - something which happens rarely when I am getting ready to go out to work!

I lean Nunn but it’s hard to pick.

But anyone who thinks Nunn is not a handful and a difficult matchup — a rangy southpaw with speed, athleticism and reflexes (not to mention enough of a punch to one-shot Kalumbay) — is deceiving themselves.

Maybe Carlos’ methodical consistency banks him enough rounds but I think Nunn gives him fits.

He did a podcast with Tris Dixon very interesting indeed, he said people would say he couldn't punch, then went on to impart that he beat 8 champs in his career, and stopped or KOd 5 , pretty impressive don't you think ? that said its Monzon for me, he is an ATG top 2/3 depending, Nunn isn't, there's a reason , that said a pin point breakdown from the ever reliable Saint. stay safe guys.

Monzon is without doubt the greater fighter. No debate there.

But Nunn was no slouch and he’s just a nightmare matchup for most anyone.

I don’t know that Carlos ever defended his title against a southpaw, and while I’m sure he fought a few in his prolific career surely none were as dynamic as Nunn or we’d know about them. I also can’t remember Carlos fighting anyone with Nunn’s combination of height and reach.

All of which is to say, as great as Monzon was he’d be facing a different challenge here that even his vast resume doesn’t have a card he can pull up and say ‘OK, this worked against ___ and they’re similar so I can try that for starters.’

Granted Nunn didn’t fight any Monzons in his time either — there aren’t any — but he fought right-handlers, he fought guys of the same build, size and relative speed, so he’d be venturing up in class but not into unknown waters as far as size, athletic ability or skill set.

And again, I’m not planting a flag here saying Nunn definitely beats him and that I have no doubt, but I give a slight lean that way and can certainly see *how* Nunn would beat Monzon. If it were two out of three, Carlos would probably figure something out and take at least one (and of course we can always throw an obligatory draw in there if they fought one of the bouts in Argentina, haha).

Huge Nunn fan. Early Nunn which includes his destruction of Tate/Kalambay he might get Carlos over 12 rounds......15 Carlos maybe could storm back and stop him.
Nunn vs Barkley and on Carlos stops him late....... Nunn was just getting hit alot more at that stage in his career and I remember Curry nailing him alot with the right-hand.

Even though I disagree with Saintpat's (tentative) 'lean', I salute this smart well-reasoned post regarding two of my favourite fighters. A pleasure to be part of such a high-level discussion. I yield to no one in my admiration for Nunn - but I don't see him, or any other middleweight of the past 50 years, beating Carlos Monzon over 15 rounds. Yes, Monzon had his lacklustre nights. (So did Nunn, of course.) But the manner in which he twice manhandled a fine fine fighter in Nino Benvenutti at the start of his reign and said Adios to the sport after twice putting a beating on Valdez at the end of it - these things make him sui generis in my book.
