So,what did Nigel Benn ever do to **** you off, then ? As much as I liked the 'Dark Destroyer' I can only envisage him losing by middle rounds tko in this one. Nigel was good, but Monzon would be in most of our top three all time great middleweights list.
Benn fares no better than Valdez or Briscoe. Or not as good...Benn has a strong, aggressive punchers chance, but not against the impenetrable trombonist Monzon. Like the typical aggressor, the Dark Destroyer would ultimately get caught and suffocated too much. Monzon by easy UD at least.
Nigel Benn is no joke...very dangerous man. Monzon's overall strength, chin, and style are way too much to overcome. Monzon drowns him late...about the 14th round.
Benn's allot faster and more intense than Briscoe Monzon wins though, not as early as allot of you are picking though and Nigel might even go the distance
Benn may be faster and more intense than Briscoe... ... But I feel it was Briscoe's pacing that kept him in there (and his sturdy jaw). Monzon dealt Briscoe a serious amount of punishment and Benn would undoubtedly fold from just half of that, especially when you consider his likely fatigue after round five. Monzon TKO7 or TKO8 sounds accurate.
It would more like Monzon vs tonna than Briscoe, though Benn has a bit more heart than Tonna, but less durabiity.
