Carlos Monzon by TKO 9, Monzon too big and too strong, and he can take a punch. Carlos is not Gerald McClelland to be hurt by Nigel Benn.

He has a chance to make it competitive, and probably even hurt Monzon. Great fight with Monzon winning btwn rounds 8-10.

Not too much of a chance for Benn in this one.

Is it possible though that Benn gives Monzon the toughest fight of his career?

Absolutely not, too small, it would be a disaster to be eating all those long left jabs all fight long, then that paralyzing right, ouch. Is he going to get knocked down, Ha Ha.

Not against the invincible fantasy version of Monzon who was a stone cold killer with paralyzing power in his fists and ice in his veins and destroyed all-comers with career-shortening beatings. In contrast to the fairly conservative and methodical counterpuncher he was in reality who didn't always look good against mostly average opposition. Monzon couldn't destroy Jean-Claude Bouttier, who lasted a total of 27 rounds in two fights, but Nigel Benn won't make it past round 5...

You have the slowest of starters vs the fastest of starters, so yeah Benn has a decent chance early. Monzon never saw anything like that smoke. If he can take Benn's punch, he wins. If he can't, he loses. Quite simple. Benn WILL hit you.

If he has a truly great chin, yes. It was rarely tested because opponents couldn't kind of reach and weren't explosive or ferocious.

I see what you're saying. It's the same thing with George Foreman, really. Neither man's chin was tested that often, but when it was, it was so stunning that you never forgot it and you knew from then on that they were iron-chinned.
