Carlos Monzon vs Oscar De La Hoya, 160lbs, prime for prime. Does this fight resemble the 1975 title defense against Tony Licata, that Carlos won? Or does Oscar pull of an upset to defeat a champion who last lost in 1964?

Christ Almighty. No contest. Monzon beats him down unmercifully. KO10.

Hey, they have him going against Vito Antuoferno, so I figured why not. Lol.

Typical Richard thread. Monzon scores his first 1st rd KO.

You must really hate Oscar, this would end very ugly for him.

Carlos Monzon would win. Oscar De La Hoya wasn`t at his best at MW. I think, he lost already against Felix Sturm on points.

So everyone is in agreement, but one thing I like about this thread is that it kind of hints at the weight disparity of modern versus fifty years ago. It's worth noting, for example, that these two are around the same height. Oscar would have been a big, big welter in Monzon's era (wasn't small in this one) and his stepping up to Middle would in no way have surprised, (though he would have received a terrible thrashing).

DLH was a lot faster than Monzon and B-hop was far harder to hit than Monzon.

Yes he's losing, Oscar, but it's not a totally one sided affair, at least not in the first bit of the fight.
Oscar maybe to brave in the end, gets a beating and gets pulled out around 7.
