You have some points here but Napoles' performances against Monzon are as good or better as Duran's against Moore, Hagler or Barkley. Even so he lost. Monzon just was tha good.

    No way.

Could be argued but I don't agree. I gave the reasons already.

Actually those are better. Gomez was ou of his best weightclass and never proved to be great there - similar to Napoles. Nelson was baby when Sanchez fought him and he had huge trouble with him, there are at least 8 wins of Monzon which are better. Lopez was good but read what GP wrote about him. I agree with that.

Far as I can tell he was generally just being extreme; like others have done early on in the thread.

I agree that Danny Lopez is arguably the top 126 puncher ever, but I'm not certain whether he'd be a top 10 alltime feather. Two great wins nonetheless, especially as they were nigh on punch perfect and Lopez was at his peak (IMO) or at least in the midst of some very good form.

No, you don't tell how it is, you just are not able to show respect with arguments that have next to no validity.

Put it this way Gomez moved up 4lbs to Napoloes 13 and Napoloes was even a small ww. I hate to repeat myself but there really is not arguement here.
Ill admit Nelson wasnt whis prime but he already was a helluva fighter and just as close to his prime as a faded Griffith was to his.

Again Griffith was what 5-8 tops mw and fading.
Nelson a monster of a Fw who didnt jump up like Napoloes and Griffith.

How so Napoles and Griffith have proven skill and were still among the best fighters in the world.

You don't just lose your skills when you become 'old' it is a gradual process, you dont go from being awesome to absoloute crap. Just cause Napoles and Griffith were 'old' does not mean they were ****, they were better than what you are giving them credit for.

And in Napoles's case he was at the top of his game and regarded as P4P number 1.

And back when Barney Ross was fighting he wasnt regarded as anything special. Just because he was regarded as a top 10 FW back in his day does not mean it is the case.

If you listen to 'boxing fans' 'today' Manny Pacquiao is the greatest fighter that ever lived.

And I agree Danny Lopez was a brilliant fighter, I just dont feel he is of the calibre as say Napoles, Griffith or even Benvenuti.

Also you could make the case and say Lopez was past his prime, like Napoles or Griffith according to you.

Gomez supposedly did not train hard.

'Supposedly' is the key word. He was in his prime but we can see he was never as electrifying at Featherweight than at Super Bantamweight, also his form afterwards was hardly awe inspiring, so I could mnake the case Gomez was past prime but I know it is not the case.

Pryor was 3 to 4 inches shorter than Argeullo, so what?

Also he moved up ONE weight division. And weighed in just slightly over the Welter limit which meant he was the samller man but that can also be an advantage. Add in the fact he was thought to be P4P number 1 it is hardly a bad win.

Also Duran started his career at Bantamweight it means sod all.

It was probably more impressive but thinkign about it I think they are about even. Both guys were thought to be the best in the world, both men were in their primes and both men moved up 1 weight division.

Also Anarci, you bring up the fact I am younger than you and from the 'You Tube' generation has absoloutly nothing to do with it. Just because you lived through it does not mean you automatically know more about a certain aspect of boxing than me. As I have researched boxing thoroughly, surely that makes up for experiance in some ways. However, I concede you know more about the era than me. However, you blatantly do not know about the Napoles and Monzon era, if you are deriding Monzons win and dismissing it so easily.

You see where I am coming from?

Griffith is an atg mw and there is no clear indication for him beeing past it against Monzon :bart Much beter win han Nelson with his 13-14 fights.

4 pounds in the lighter divisions are as hard to move up as 13 pounds in the higher divisions. Weight means more the lighter you are. I thought that's a given.

You think calling someone who is very young a youngin is not showing respect? You got to ****ing light up bro:patsch You just cant handle the truth and you are obviously getting pissed. Everything ive said has validity and im not the only one saying this. You and Pater have one side and me and Power punch had another opinion. So your trying to say that since our opinions dont match yours that it has no validity:patsch You got to be kidding me:lol:

He only ever ventured up to Middleweight once though, this is like saying Marvin Hagler isnt as good as Guillermo Jones as he does not have wins at Cruiserweight.

    :lol::lol:

Yeh the Napoles and Griffith wins were like **** on a shoe, not even a good win at all.

But you blatantly dont know about the eras before in great enough detail, you ar eobviously reminiscing and beleiveing 'your era' to be better. A disadvantage of being old.

I was although there is basis for the critisisms on Lopez, just not as extreme as I made them.

    :good

Sorry, your thoughts are far more superior to ours, sorry old man.

Also Griffith was still a top fighter in the world. Nelson was some unknown African. Really no argument here.

Also Griffith hardly 'jumped up' to Middleweight he had been campaigning there for years.

Put it this way, Napoles looked better against Monzon than Gomez did against Sanch'. IMO anyway, which probably doesn't mean much as I wasn't there at the time:yep

When as Bodhi said that, you have been the one dismissing arguments.

You know your stuff anarci, but you have absoloutly no anayltical skills and cannot reason to others opinions.

Just telling it like it is. :good

Agreed with this, the primeness and fighters at or near their best weight classes makes Sanchezs opponents tougher. Gomez was undefeated at the time and blowing everyone out the water, Sanchez had to walk through fire against a monster puncher, same with Lopez a prime champ who was rated highly, its not like Benevuti who lost twice in the year before he fought Monzon.

People that say Nelson was pre-prime because boxrec states he only had 13 fights dont really know the ghanian boxing system, especially then, he had plenty of fights not on boxrec and at 24 was in his physical prime

No. This isn't the firs time you act like this. You use it all the time to undermine the credibility of posters with another oppinion. That's bad style and bad manners and disrespectful. I don't say your arguments have no validity, I say your dismissing the arguments of younger people have no validity.

Add to that that you don't know how old I am, since I never posted it. I may be older than you. And no I don't get pissed over some internet arguments. But I dislike disrespectful people.

    This.

it's like knowing every word in the dictionary but not being able to construct a sentence. Knowledge is what you do with it.
