Monzon by stoppage. Hearns would have his moments early, though I don't think Tommy would be able to go the distance.

Monzon vs Hagler would go the distance, too close to call for me.

i think tommy would outjab monzon. monzon relied heavily upon his jab. but taking this away, tommy would break his rhythem and take him out of his stride.

and tommy had the quicker hands and bigger punch. should allow him to get a ud.

Would break his rhythm? How so? Monzon would play the subtle pressure fighter against Hearns, likely roughing him up in close quarters causing Hearns to play the boxing game he used against Leonard, with similar consequences(considering Monzon was much better at applying that type of pressure than Leonard), though earlier and without as much hastle.

as for hagler vs monzon, i think hagler is just too much. too strong, too heavy punching, just to insistant.

monzon would have to make the most of his height and jab to keep hagler at bay. but again, the monzon jab would not come to full frutation. not against a southpaw. and hagler hand an excellent jab as well.

monzon would hang tough, but hagler would get inside and get the better of the exchanges.

it lasts the distance, but hagler wins a wide ud.

Im takin' Monzon, primarily because he was just too great at 160.

But h2h - Tommy can box really well, and fight, has immense power at probably all his weights. Monzon had a great chin and would need it here. Monzon was one of the most imposing fighters p4p ever. He's gunna keep bombin' away and away and away, and i believe he would go to the body to take some spped away from Tommy, if Tommy fights, which he would imo, as a jabbing match would be very difficult for both men, he will get stopped eventually imo.

    Im taking Monzon here

Leonard walked through his shots at WW, taking them much more often in order to simply land the big shot than Monzon would. Also, his power at MW wouldn't be as effective on a fighter with an iron chin in Monzon.

You also take a far less durable natural WW to beat him at MW.

tommy had a bigger punch than anyone monzon ever faced. brisco could punch hard too, but he couldnt get it to the target in the precise manner that tommy could.

tommy made roldan fall on his face with one shot. or shuler.

even a fullgrown and very tough light heavyweight champion like dennis andries succumed to his power.

i think his power would be more than enough to keep monzon at bay.

His power is legendary, amazin' it is enough to pull out a stoppage against most nearly any human ever, but its not gunna keep CARLOS MONZON at bay

styles make fights. and tommy may not be a greater MW than monzon, i do not dispute that.

but his style is not suited for monzon to display his strengths imo.

monzon never had to take the type of power that tommy had in his right hand.

i think it would be more than enough.
