DDLH is off the card, missed weight for the main event (was scheduled to face Jose Salgado), if that is a dealbreaker for anyone. It probably oughtta be.

De La Hoya - Salgado looked boring. Good to see another main event.

Zenunaj is all action. I see him stopping Morales.

Boring, really? Eh, in that it likely would have gone the distance and likely would've been in the neighborhood of a 97-93 to 98-92 range UD for DDLH without any knockdowns or major drama? Then sure. It still would've been a much higher skill level than anything left on the card, though, and I actually kinda enjoy watching Diego box. :nusenuse:

Why does Villela look like he's 50?

edit: oh because he's 37 and eats punches like they were Scooby Snacks.

This boy Curiel was dominant (at least of Brits/Irish) in the amateurs. He beat Ted Cheeseman, who's supposed to be kind of a big deal, by scores of 27:16 (!!), and Hughie Nevin by 18:13.

Got bounced in the first round of the Olympics, though.

    Round 1

Zenunaj is pinning his elbows together over his crotch, forming a V shape with his arms, leaving a gap between his gloves to bait Morales, then countering the jab with his own. Zenunaj is gyrating above the waist, slipping to either side of Morales' jabs and sometimes falling off-balance as he comes up off bent knees with his own jabs. Both are landing flush in the pocket. Clinch. Both slap the liver with their free hand. Morales steps back and winds up a 1-2, having to draw the right hand backward to have space to fire as Zenunaj is still in his chest. Zenunaj blocks and keeps pressing forward behind a thudding jab. Zenunaj none too fast nor glitzy with the straightforward attack but keeping Morales on the jittery defensive.

    10-9 Zenunaj, close

19-19. Interesting in that the guy who ends up on the short stick in both frames has landed the biggest, most eye-catching punch. But consistent work pays off sometimes.
