Carlos Ortiz would have way too much of everything for Mancini, and would have stopped him between 12 and 15.
Mancini highly energetic, but soundly out-classed by Ortiz.......... Not a good fight for Mancini........ MR.BILL
Not even on the same level, Ortiz would stop Mancini, probably in the final round after a thorough schooling. Mancini would have less success here than against Arguello, but not go down as heavily. Ortiz could shift up and down more gears than Arguello ever could. He was less static than Arguello, could mix it, could counter punch. Arguello had more power but I say they're in the same bracket as fighters. Top, top class. Mancini however, was not, though damn strong, relentless and tough :good
The only way I see a fight between these two ending would be a stoppage for Ortiz, and not on some cut eye, or Mancini still on his feet. He would have gotten a battering by Ortiz after being thoroughly outboxed. No contest.
When I saw this match up, I immediately thought that Mancini, a real hard trier, would be simply outclassed by the classy Carlos Ortiz. Then I read the other posts and found that everyone else thought so too. I can only fall in line and add my consenting vote.
''In Top Shape He Was a Perfect Fighting Machine'' Once said by Ring Magazine about Carlos Ortiz. Ortiz was a strong Lightweight with a fast Jab and sharp accurate right cross. He also was a superb Body Puncher, with a sound chin, and was good at cutting off the ring and angles. When he wanted to he could box of the back foot and and also a effective in-fighter. He defeated some of the best Lightweights of his era including ''Old Bones'' Joe Brown and Ismael Laguna to name a few. I really feel Mancini is out of his depth against a fighter like Carlos. Mancini was tough, game, and more than willing to have a tear up. Against Ortiz he would give his 110% best just like he did against Arguello, but he would come up short again.
