Late 70's Palimino vs late 80's Brown. It damn sure would be a war! Both were very good welters that fell just a bit short of being great. Both were very tough, both had excellent offensive skills, both had very powerful left hooks, both were wicked body punchers, and both had excellent stamina. Who wins?
Would have been a war, but I think Tito woulda stopped Brown late. Tito had the superior firepower, and the faster hands, and would beat Brown to the punch more often than not. But Brown would give Tito some scary moments along the way. I say Tito KO 9. Woops sorry... read the post wrong. As for Palimino... I say Tito by decision. For the same reasons he beats Brown. Too much firepower. Actually I could see Tito stopping Carlos too. Palimino had a great chin, but he took alot of shots. Outside of Hearns and Cuevas... Tito was the deadliest puncher 147 has ever seen. Not too many guys can take his punch all night long.
I would go with Brown. People say Palamino had more skills, but I couldn't really say that because Carlos fought mostly C and D-level fighters. Brown fought much better fighters on a whole and did well against them. Brown had a bit more power and more speed. They both could take a shot. Brown's defense left something to be desired, though, but I'd still take him to beat Palimino.
No he didnt. Palomino fought prime Wilfred Benitez and Roberto Duran, and in losing efforts showed remarkable tenacity and solid skills..The kind of things that would see him win this fight. In losing Brown actually showed why Carlos would probably have beaten him...He was on the end of some pretty one sided schoolings and beatings. Palomino brutalized Joes Napoles' conquerer John H Stracy..Twice beat Olympian Armando Muniz, who reportedly was robbed in a fight against Napoles..Knocked out unbeaten English prospect and top contender Dave Green. Really Brown beat no one better in his welter reign...nor was he a fighter with the dimensions and overall skills of Duran or Benitez.
Palomino was soundly beaten by Benitez and Duran. Green was not even very good, nor was Stracy or Hedgmon Lewis or Muniz. Brown never beat Terry Norris, Tyrone Trice and Maurice Blocker and others. He could be outboxed because he was more puncher than boxer, but he was very good. Carlos was very good too, and this would be a barnburner, but I give it to Brown because of his higher workwrate.
Brown was soundly beaten by McGirt and Starling...you tell me which is worse. Im not sure why you would think Trice and Blocker were far superior to Stracey, Lewis and Muniz..its really quite obvious they werent. As for Norris the rematch is all you really have to look at there..Simon dragged Terry into his fight and caught his suspect chin, Terry schooled him the next time around. Carlos also had a great workrate, which is what saw him always in the fights against a faster and more skilled Benitez. I think it would be a great fight also...but I reckon Brown just lacks the skills and savvy to knock off Carlos.
