Good stuff Cobra. Was Curry the greatest welterweight in history? Of course not. But was he much better at the weight than Chin gives credit for? Of course he was. Yes , we discovered Curry didn't have the greatest chin. We also discovered he may not have had the greatest intestinal fortitude the way the Honeyhan fight ended.
But, as you basically said, at the top of his game, he clearly was a very dynamic force to deal with.
Curry was one of the most talented fighters I've seen. And I've watched thousands of boxers over the years. But management issues, weight problems all eventually added up to the loss to Honeyghan, whom really wasn't in Curry's class as far as skill is concerned.
Yes McCallum knocked him out, but up until that point Curry was winning the fight handily, if not dominating it.
By the time he faced Norris, time had clearly passed him buy, as well as athleticism.
Curry should have been much better. Theirs no doubt about that. His welterweight run was one of the better ones in history. Personal issues, management issues, weight issues did derail a career that should have been do much more.

I thought Curry "looked" really talented, too. But there are an awful lot of "passes" being handed out in that post because you thought he looked talented and he "should've" been better

But getting floored on your way to winning a vacant belt. Being handed a belt because a new org was just created and they wanted to just give it to you, beating Milton McCrory and then quitting after six rounds against Honeyghan is NOT one of the better runs in welterweight history.

Curry reminds me of super talented athletes on teams in the U.S. known as "coach killers" who coaches and general managers are always getting fired over because "they see something" or the kid "flashes" in a game here and there and people go "I've never seen anything like that" and "this kid is going to be great."

And he does fine but he's not great. Too much effort and money is sunk into him. And the player gets traded and the coach gets fired. And for years everyone says I saw something, though. I know I did.

    Curry could've been better, should've, would've ... but he wasn't.

    That's all.

    Enjoy the holidays.

I honestly believe Donald was a very talented guy and had a good run as champ. I know I was impressed when he beat Moochie, a guy I've always liked. But Donald wasn't very durable, and I believe, that was the cause of his downfall. Many claim he had weight issues, management problems and other distractions, and I don't refute that as it all could be 100% correct for all I know. But he simply lacked durability.

I like curry here as said already curry's hand speed could be a big big factor here . I like palomino a lot he's a proper gritty fighter with loads of heart and could go to the body brutally. If this fight was over 12 I'd feel more confident in picking curry but I feel those last three rounds keep be really interesting especially if palomino could of got to work on curry's body and still have enough left to really push hard down the straight of the championship rounds . I'm thinking though those faster hands and sharper punching may have an effect on palomino's eyes along the way possibly a swelling that begins to restrict the vision of palomino would impact on his punching accuracy perhaps then effecting his output and intensity late on

Curry by decision in really good fight

Good post, Carlos Palomino went the distance with Roberto Duran on June 22 1979, even got decked by Duran once.

This is pretty much how I see this. I like Palomino, but I see Curry on points over 15 rounds in a good fight.
