Does anyone remember seeing this fight? Apparently it was televised (at least in Puerto Rico).
I remember both these boxers. But have not seen the fight.
What struck me when I saw this on Santos's record is that I remember Melvin Epps as a heavyweight/cruiserweight journeyman, about 195 pounds, while Santos was only a 154-pounder.

Epps was strictly a journeyman but at least good enough to be used as an opponent by ranked and up-and-coming heavyweights, went 10 rounds distance with Jeff Sims in 1982, and with Adilson Rodrigues in 1986, went 10 rounds with Eddie Mustafa Muhammad in 1988, and 10 rounds with Renaldo Snipes in 1989 (the second time he'd faced Snipes, getting stopped in 5 rounds in 1987).
He also fought Marvis Frazier in 1981, Mitch Green in 1981, Lennox Lewis in 1989.
He had a win over George Chaplin in 1985 and a win against Hughroy Currie in 1986.

Wikipedia (Carlos Santos entry) actually makes reference to the fight. Apparently the original opponent pulled out and Epps was put in as a substitue.
Santos won by TKO round 2.
