I can't believe the amount of ridicule and unfair criticism this guy gets. You have posters constantly comparing him to fighters like Molina and Duhaupas, and ranking him below guys like Whyte, Breazeale and Browne. His recent replacement for Pulev has raised howls of protest from certain quarters despite him arguably being a stiffer test and better fighter overall.

What is it about Takam that leads people to so grossly underrate him? His lack of big wins? His under the radar persona? His laughably low boxrec ranking?

You only need to view his fights to see he's easily a top ten fighter based on performance alone. He was even with Povetkin on all three judges' scorecards before the stoppage in the ninth, pushed Parker more than anyone has before, and got totally jobbed against a former top tenner in Mike Perez. He's clearly operating on a level Molina and co couldn't even dream of.

Joshua and his team need to be applauded for taking on this guy, and if he does get blown away it'll speak more for Joshua's dominance of the division than any failings in Takam himself. I think he'll easily give as good an effort as Whyte, and likely surpass it, but we'll see on the day.

    Yep

And besides that, he beat Thompson as easily as Pulev did and did much better against Povetkin as Duhaupas.

He is a very good fighter and in my opinion he will look even better than Pulev against Joshua..

Takam is actually better than Browne, Whyte or Breaseale. Clearly more skilled.

Takam is way better than Molina, can't even compare them.

Takam may well get blown out early against Joshua. But then so could any heavy.

What is clear is that he's taken tough fights his whole career & thoroughly deserves the opportunity & payday he's going to get.

What other fighters would go to New Zealand to fight Parker & Russia to fight Povetkin without a world title belt on the line?

Other fighters get to the mandatory position without facing a single live opponent.

This guy has done it the hard way & deserves the opportunity he's getting.

I now more agree with the OP and have modified my view of him and think he's a decent test. He is a fighting man as has been said.

Agreed OP. I think it's more the underwhelming state of the HW division that irks people. And on this occasion they end up taking it out on Takam.

I think someone's fanboi's are getting their panties in a twist because their boi usually fights cans after his supposed original fight fall through.

The just don't realise Takam is levels above what their boi fights...

Him and Parker was a close fight. Either guy could have won.

The biggest hypocrites are the resident Wilder fanboys like @Blackclouds who are rushing out the criticize this fight, hell they criticized Pulev!

If Wilder would fight Pulev and Takam back to back I'd start being impressed by him.
