Both men knocked Takam out in round ten with a single knockdown previously scored in the fight by each; Povetkin in 2014 and Joshua in 2017, just four days away from being exactly three years apart. Despite being stopped and not ahead on the cards in either contest, Takam is widely considered to have given both a very stiff challenge.

Takam will be 38 years old in December. Joshua will next month celebrate his 29th birthday and Povetkin has been 39 since a couple of Sundays ago.

How about Takam agaisnt the Kuzmin vs. Price winner, that a little more realistically in his lane? I'd favor him against either tbh.

Prime candidate for Wembley in April.

    Hearn will sell it well

''Carlos Takam is looking for redemption. All the people in Cameron are putting all their faith on Takam to help resolve the ongoing crisis in that region. It will be the toughest test in Anthony's career'

I love takam but I don't see how he gets a world title shot he lost to chisora . needs to beat someone first. takam vs wilder I wouldn't mind seeing actually as long as he beats someone first.. him vs parker would be the perfect rematch to be honest. the winner moves on.

Joshua couldn’t knock him out. B.ull**** stoppage, but no need for rematch as this bum couldn’t win one single round

Dude, there's about to be a world title match between Manuel freaking Charr and Fres goddamn Oquendo.

I don't think "earning" a title shot really counts for much of anything in this division anymore. Takam is still a top-10 guy in this anemic division, and he did give both Joshua & Povetkin a hard night's work. That alone makes him roughly as deserving as nearly any other HW contender. :nusenuse:

    Fair enough.

Takam, incidentally, would stomp Charr into a literal diamond. :sisi1

That’s not a world title though, realistically.

Nobody with a brain considers the regular belt a world title, how can they when there’s a ‘super’ wba champ. Regular belt means nothing, there purely to make promoters / boxers and the wba a little more money.

Takam top 10? Come on, that KO loss to Chisora is a huge setback!

He may have scraped my top 10 before that fight, but no chance can I put him there if a shot Chisora KOd him.

He is a tough fighter but the Chisora loss was a major setback. I would favour him in a rematch though and he would also beat Parker as well.
