    How does Takam do against the likes of;
    Charles
    Walcott
    Marciano
    Henry
    Baker
    Lastarza
    Valdes
    ??????
Takam is 6'1.5" ,between 235and 250lbs with an 80.5" reach.
He has good power and can box too.
Would he make a real dent in those and other 50's contenders?

In a decade, where The Ring at one point ranked Don ****ell #2... it's hard to imagine, that Takam wouldn't make a dent.

He would have made a dent in the thirties, forties, fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties and likely the nineties.

The guy barely made a dent in the desolate 2010 Heavyweight landscape. Guy is big, but, modestly skilled and slow as molasses. He would be a handful for smaller, unskilled fighters. But, he would likely come up short versus all the names listed in this thread.

I didn't go that far. Just meant the guys listed by McVey in the original post.

Ok, fair enough… but how about someone like LaStarza? Would he come up short against him?

Those are harder questions. Size certainly can make a difference. And Takam is bigger and stronger than a lot of these men. But, he loses to the ones with great skill and speed. Just like the much larger John Ruiz lost to Roy Jones and James Toney. And, I would say Takam also loses badly to someone like Jeffries who despite being a little smaller, would not be physically bullied by Takam.

Oh right, so he would do fine in any era just like I said and just like he does today.

    I tend to agree.

He is the kind of guy who is unlikely to get to the top, but is always going to give the top men trouble.

Probably not. And, other than his more aggressive approach and workrate, Takam doesn't look all that much better than Thompson, here.

Nonetheless, Takam looks like he could probably find himself competing with 'the rest', in weaker eras.

Hows about you make a thread about it, instead of taking mine off tangent?

How's about you answer my question first.
