Takam was clearly rawer in the amateurs, with a style that was always going to be more suited to pro boxing. (whereas Aly's was perfectly suited for the amateurs; I suspect he would've been a flop if he ever turned over...) ...which just makes the fact that he enjoyed so much tourney success and even qualified to attend the Olympics all the more impressive.
Takam actually had Aly in a bit of trouble at times. Even though he lost in a landslide on points under the numerically-based system of scoring, what he did connect was generally of a high quality and damaging (or would have been, sans headgear). He looked a bit ungainly at times due to Aly's size and disruption & spoiling tactics, but he was a skilled boxer-puncher even back then.
I will play Russian_Glass;; Takam was clearly up 9-0 before Povetkin landed that lucky punch that the corrupt Russian ref quick counted to save Povetkin. Then they took Takam to a Russian hospital and it was worse than a Columbian prison and three Russian fighter jets then crashed into it because the pilots were racist and drunk.
Bermane gets his ass handed to him by Povetkin or Perez, FACT. He'd be 50-50 w/ the Grant that got pounded out by Takam.
Oh no, Stiverne and every TOP-30 HW would've easily KO'd that version of Michael Grant. Takam doesn't hit hard, and it's the only one reason why Grant lasted so long. He took a beating in every round. 45 y.o. Botha schooled that Grant till the 12th rd And Botha did better vs Takam.
No. Botha did worse, considering Grant knocked him out. Before that he was competitive with Adamek. Charr did stop him a few rounds faster than Grant but a) that was a quit job not a true stoppage and b) that was after Grant took his vicious beating from Takam and then had a 17 month layoff...
