    Round 1

Zárate is circling to his left, having a peek around either side of his guard. Pintor is applying textbook shorter-man pressure, but not blundering into counter-jabbing range. Neither has really thrown a thing in the first half-minute, just watching and studying, clocking each other's nuances of movement. Zárate begins to unroll some nice quick jabs, recoiling straight away to starting position even though he's plenty clear and safe from harm on the outside. Pintor taking half-steps in, trying body-feints and then jerking away from the Zárate jab, trapping it sometimes between the padding around the pinkies on either glove. Pintor walks Zárate into the ropes but is unable to capitalize as the champion manages to carve his way out with that crisp, busy jab.

    10-9 Zárate

    Round 2

Zárate is flitting around, starting to show a slightly predictable idiosyncrasy of bouncing in place twice after each relocation. Zárate fending off Pintor with long jabs and hooking off it on the lateral step, but Pintor is tanking his way in close behind the solid high peekaboo and starting to graze Zárate with his own reach-up left hooks. Pintor ducks a pair of swipes behind the neck while bowing in, and scores a stiff up-jab on the chin. Pintor is menacing without blindly rushing in, able to make Zárate fall short with the jab but still keeping himself near enough for a sudden quickening of pace to allow him to increase his scoring percentages.

    10-9 Pintor

    Round 3

Zárate is starting to drop in heavy, laser-accurate right crosses behind the jab and snipes Pintor's third eye a few times with the 1-2. Pintor is able to slip or slap down the jabs but getting caught with the cross at medium-long range. Pintor is, however, ducking in under them at times and scratching Zárate above the belt line. Zárate is now roaming counter-clockwise, still lobbing out the 1-2 but less tidy now than in the opening minute, Pintor getting underneath most of it.

    10-9 Zárate, close

    Round 4

Zárate is shuffling a few inches to his starboard, then riding an elevator round-trip down to basement level and up again with a little shimmy-shake while threatening with but not firing the jab, a little saber-rattling to keep Pintor honest. Zárate picking his spots and then dashing in with stiff downward-drilling jabs into the challenger's mouth, backing him up. Pintor trying his best to hook the body or catch Zárate with a short counter right on the jaw, but is getting out-timed by a hair. Zárate only engaging in spots, but highly effective when he does. Pintor for his part grinding halfway in, cautiously seeking a vulnerability, never getting a chance to really unload. Zárate steps in with a lead right, making Pintor blink his eyes fully shut, leaving him blinded to a stiff follow-up jab that drops him shortly before the bell.

    Round 5

Zárate is cutting a rug, going in his preferred direction (leftward) and not really having to rethink anything, since he's able to keep Pintor turning on a spit and never set enough to close the gap. Zárate pauses his dizzying flight to swoop in and jab Pintor multiple times between his eyes. Pintor ducks a right hand lead at short range with a slight curve on it thrown as Zárate looms over him, then comes up with a left hook, also missing as Zárate hops outside. Pintor hurt by a sharp Zárate jab, and then hit with another before having even shaken it off.

You know what's really cool? I don't actually recall the outcome in this fight offhand (didn't BoxRec or Wikipedia it between getting the recommendation and starting this RBR thread), so I'm watching this as though live with no idea what to expect. :deal: And there's no foreknowledge of the official judges' cards (if applicable) to color my scoring in any prejudicial way.

    Round 6

Zárate is using masterful spiraling and in-and-out footwork, making Pintor constantly reset while threading in hard quick accurate jabs. Pintor is hurtling in and zinging the waist of the champion with uppercuts from both sides, but when he starts in with headhunting flurries Zárate is able to dance artfully out in diagonals to make him miss. Pintor does time him with a sweet right hand late on, but not enough to steal back what has been another statistically very successful round of hit-and-don't-get-hit for Zárate.

The commentator scored the sixth even.

...I guess that's fine. I disagree, but not egregious.

    Round 7

Zárate is lingering in close a bit more now, wriggling his way around Pintor's shots and landing his own body combos, then stepping out and zapping Pintor with the long jab. Zárate is doing himself a disservice with an overabundance of movement, however, as he is caught in transition by a few Pintor uppercuts. Zárate, however, is throwing enough on the inside to keep Pintor on the defensive, blasting down into his cheek with right hands thrown from up by his own hairline, and winging left hooks into the body to confuse Pintor's senses. The challenger is slightly buzzed as the bell sounds.

    Round 8

Zárate is continuing to find Pintor between the gloves with his jab while circumnavigating, and taking periodic sojourns into the phone-booth to swap hard straights on the face & uppercuts on the body. Pintor is starting to patiently time his own jab and catch Zárate with it flush as the latter is dancing inside. Pintor now throwing in rhythm with Zárate, matching his output.

    10-9 Pintor, super close

    Round 9

Zárate is making full use of all four corners now, regrouping as the rallying Pintor seems to wax in strength. Zárate jabbing nicely from a distance, still textbook form, just much fewer in number, and now mostly caught on the arms of the advancing Pintor. Zárate throws some ferocious combinations but Pintor is doing an excellent job of maneuvering his pinball-paddles in the way of everything. Pintor stalking expertly, applying very nice pressure and discombobulating Zárate a bit, just not reaching the real estate where he can parlay his generalship into points.

10-9 Zárate, but not done prettily

    Round 10

Zárate is changing levels with his jab now, letting his lead knee tent out so he can send it plunging into Pintor's midriff. Zárate is getting caught by head-snapping jabs as they close together, with Pintor's timing and instincts really dialed in now. Zárate dancing in close, teasing an exchange, only to skirt outward. Pintor making the most of the chances he's given, countering Zárate with jabs on the chest and then a 1-2-3 of which the straights only graze but THE HOOK CONNECTS. Zárate in trouble, and scrambling. Pintor moves in and lances up a hard right hand, not getting a clean piece of Zárate but sending him further down the rabbit-hole of panicked defense.
