Carmen Basilio,[whose very name conjures up warrior-like visions,]was in the Fight Of The Year in 5 consecutive years!!!
    1955 v Tony Demarco
    1956 v John Saxton
    1957 v SRR
    1958 v SRR
    1959 v Gene Fullmer.

Will we ever see this astonishing feat achieved again?

Maybe only Wlad Kitschko is capable of doing it?

Seriously,Carmen is still with us,I hope he gets the recognition he undoubtedly deserves when he goes to those IBHOF type events.

They gave his fight with Saxton the other day and it was a barnburner. I liked it. Have to see what other fights were fought before I make that judgment.

And to the OP I think that record is going to be a tough nut to crack. It would have to be a heavyweigh that is highly charismatic winning it undeservedly. Because now event is not quite as important and the lower weight classes have a chance. If a guy fought in 6 consecutive FOTY at a lower weight he might be a vegetable by the time he is done.

This guy should be in every discussion of greatest chins ever but he rarely gets a mention in those debates. He didn't even seem to notice the punches when he got hit. The selected rounds I've seen of the Robinson fights are both amazing.

Agreed. But his fight with Gaspar Ortega should have been.

He was just an action machine.

Don't know if I'd put his chin in the top echelon, but his balls and toughness belong at the very pinnacle.

Why wouldn't you? I can't recall a time he was dropped and he was whacked hard and flush by some really big punchers. Out of being in some many wars you'd think he'd have at least been the victim of a flash knockdown.

Too underrated, he does not get enough mention in 'Who is all time greatest" threads.

Simply because I've seen him get hurt in a lot of fights. He's not like a Julio Cesar Chavez, Juan Laporte or Oliver McCall who can just get hit and stay unmoved throughout. He's been wobbled on numerous occasions and it's always struck me that his will power helps him pull through to some extent.

That said, his chin is still excellent, just not amongst the absolute very best.

Would he make my top 100 chins of all time? Yes he would. Top 20? Probably not.
