Carmen's workrate and aggression against Briscoe's steady pressure assault...
    12 rounds at Middleweight.

If Basilio can't beat Fullmer, he can't beat Briscoe.

Carmen is just too small. Very gutty, but will get beat up.

Carmine was the better fighter, Briscoe was tough but just not tough enough to win a title, was known for giving Monzon a good fight and others but I FEEL BASILO WOULD WIN BY UD 15

I know Carmen is the smaller man, but I think he would beat the predictable, but tough Briscoe to the punch consistantly enough to take a decision...I'm very well aware that Fullmer beat Basilio...But Briscoe with all due respect, in my opinion, he is not Fullmer...

Except for an "older" Robinson, Basilio never beat a full-fledge
    Middleweight.

Even at the end of his career when Basilio was really
Jr. Middleweight, he was beating up on puffed-up welterweights.

But Carmen was tough and might have out gutted Briscoe.
If Emile Griffith could draw and beat Briscoe, Basilio might have too.

That's cool. I appreciate Bennie Briscoe...I read once that he was the only athlete never to be booed in Philly....and Philly even boo's Santa Claus...:yep

I love Philly but I gotta believe that Everybody has been bood there at one time or another?! Mike Schmidt used to say it was the only place where you could have the joy of victory and the agony of reading about it the next day!

PhillyPhan.....did you see Briscoe "live" during the 70's?

How did he stack up in the Buggaloo Watts, Worm Monroe, Cyclone Hart,
    Marvin Hagler league??

We did kinda of adopt Hagler..even though he was not from there he joined in many Philly wars an was kind of an adopted son...We all know Hagler turned out to be the cream of the crop in that division, and Briscoe was able to hold his own even later in his carrear...this would have been great 4 years earlier. briscoe is IMO the greater of the other ones you mentioned...yes I saw them live! bennie holds a draw (should have been a win..I am not sure if fottage exists???) in a very close fight (w/ cyclon) and a KO over Hart...The Worm was my fav of the bunch He held a win over Hagler that was contraversial (not so much in that he won, but score cards having him up by 9 were ridiculous)..But after being KO'd by love he never seemed to be the same as hagler would go to score 2 KO wins over him...should have been a guy on the verge of a Briscoe, but it never happened.

    Briscoe, wide decision over Basilio.
