Williams wins 12 of 15 rounds, playing the spectral picador to Basilio's blind bull. He's a class above Basilio on almost every level. Carmen has nothing to offset the HUGE advantage Williams has in skill. Carmen is beaten to the punch all night and is puffy and battered at the final bell. I love Basilio (what's not to love?), but he's in WAY over his head here.
I agree that Holman Williams decisions Basillio every time...And I also believe that the prime WW edition of Ray Robinson cuts up Carmen Basillio both at 147... Sidenote : I once asked referee Ruby Goldstein ,who was my dad's favorite LW prospect , "who would have won a bout between Billy Petrolle and Carmen Basillio, same weight " ? His quick answer, Billy Petrolle, for what it's worth...
