That may take something out of Pipino Cuevas mentally. When he lands his bombs and Carmen doesn't go anywhere that has to affect a great puncher. And since Pipino Cuevas didn't have the dimension of boxing, he would have to stand there and catch the receipt. Over the Long haul Carmen basilio was the better fighter. Sugar Ray Robinson hit Carmen with his a+ left hook and Carmen got stunned but he didn't go anywhere. Best punch ever saw a man take without at least going down or wobbling severely. If Robinson couldn't hurt him Cuevas can't.

 

Basilio, a small welter, who evened out over 30 rounds against a still great 57/8 SRR was unforgettable in those epic fights, Ray didn't want another 15, he preferred to sit on the title.

First of all, no one is getting stopped here. Basilio is one of the few fighters who would be able to handle the bombs of Cuevas. And Cuevas' - pre-Hearns - jaw was rock-solid. They're going 15 and I believe Basilio's tenacity and steady body work takes him to a decision win. But what a match-up! Wow!
