did he quit against baer? i think he turned to the reff to get him to stop the onslaught from baer. is this true or did he just get the crud stomped out of him?

giacobbe cranera the battling navyman. 5'3 159 pounds of heavyweight fury. with arms like a bison. sadly shot by wild game hunters while training in the mounties.

sort of. he was so far down on the cards and getting battered non stop i think he just had a word with the ref. but to say he quit makes it sound like he was still in the fight and he choked. really, he had lost the fight a few rounds back, it was just he could survive the onslaught of just getting pummled.

I think he was probably complaining about the fouls and the referee didn't know what he was saying.
Anyway the stoppage was long overdue, IMO.

A guy sometimes takes the route of "discretion is the better part of valor"...and Primo surely demonstrated his valor vs Baer.

Don´t you really not know that Carnera (not Cranera) had injured (broken?) an ancle during one of his many knock downs?
The crazy thing about this fight is that with the New York Round-Scoring-System, Carnera could have been in front 6 to 4 after the first 10 rounds.
