Could he have won? Carnera was freakishly strong himself, I’m not sure Tyson would be able to bully him. However, Francis had more power and knew how to use it better than Carnera did.
Bump I think the Fury from Saturday makes mincemeat out of Carnera, but it’s clear that the Fury of the Ngannou fight was far slower and in now where near as good condition.
You could have said ''Marciano replacing Fury against Ngannou'' and you would have created the most active thread on Classic. Proper battlefield.
Primo is far stronger physically, an infinitely better wrestler, and carries the weight of blobby Fury like a model. That's already a huge win. If he decides to maul and outwork an out of shape Fury he can definitely take it in my mind. Ten round might be difficult, but anything beyond that strongly favors Carnera. Prime Tyson is obviously an extremely unfavorable match-up as he is just as big, but much better outside boxer, and a little bit of a slickster.
Carnera may have been stronger lifting weights but that's more or less the limit of his advantages. Fury is longer, more fluid, more skilled and the natural fighter. Carnera does the right things but he seems a stiff paint-by-numbers kind of fighter to me. I can almost hear him muttering "Jab, keep the gloves up don't cross your feet, jab again"
