Carnera v Dempsey?

Terrible match up for the gutsy but slow and limited giant.

Dempsey would administer as brutal a beating as ever seen in the ring I honestly believe.Jack was way too fast,aggressive,powerful and mean spirited for Carnera to hope to contend with.

Multiply what the equally as powerful but much less talented Baer could do by 10 and you'd have a fair idea what Dempsey would do to Primo I think.

Only a sadist would like to see this fight I believe.

 

I think prime for prime we can pick Dempsey here and sleep well.

On a side note this fight almost happened. Dempsey was reffing one of carneras fights and threw a punch at the Ambling Alp for ignoring his instructions.

 

Jack had too much speed and power for Primo.This would be a sadistic pretty long beating cuz Carnera had heart and chin so he would soak up a few rounds of punishment until the fight gets stopped.Taht being said Carnera is very underrated.

 

Surely all the Primo guys here have to give him at least a "punchers" chance ...

 

That would be similar to the Louis fight imo. Dempsey would be more fierce than Louis but Louis was the better finisher - not by much though. I still think Carnera lasts until the 6th or 7th but takes terrible punishment.

 

baer vs primo was a shoot out.

dempsey is not as small as everybody percieves. size factor isnt really that major. dempsey is used to running at opponants so he isnt gonna get confuzed by a stinging jab becuase primos jab is a bit weak and soft and bends in to apply it....anyways primo hates pressure and as soon as dempsey is in his groove (that could be 30 seconds into the fight) he takes him apart.

sad fight for primo.

 

Vantage, a side note about Primo's jab, Sharkey said after their second go that it was like getting hit by a telephone pole.

 

Alas even the Primo guys have foresaken him here.

 

I dont think that Carnera was an exceptionaly hard puncher. Hard for a heavyweight of the period perhaps but not for a heavyweight of his size.
