Carnera vs Valuev.

Spot on??

So Valuev would beat Louis? Dempsey? Marciano? Ali? Foreman?? Lewis? ete?
Hell after Holyfiled "Lost" to Valuev, Mr Magoo, made this trend on how he saw the light on Valuev, were days before the fight, he was making a claim Valuev would crush Marciano, Louis or any old timer.

 

First of all, I never said that Valuev would " crush " those fighters that you listed. I do confess that I always felt that his size would have made him a hard obstacle for some smaller greats to overcome. But, after viewing some of his more recent performances ( including the Holy match ), I no longer have doubts about even the smallest of great heavyweight champions having their way with him....

 

I don't believe that was a comment (or even remotely similar???) to what I responded to? I agreed with magoo's assessment that Valuev is a comprably weak champion (and IMO a weak champion of a weak era)...I will leave you and magoo to debate the deeper rooted issue you speak of! peace

 

Re look at it, spot on for the 2nd part, The I am sorry I guess was in regards of Vaulev beating the past champs, Or so I thought, and There is no need to appologise when you are spot on, I thought was spot on that Vaulev is this killer gaint.

 

In my book, this may very well be the first time in history that a world titlist does not deserve to be a top 5 heavyweight. Wlad Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko, David Haye, Ruslan Chagaev and Alexander Povetkin all deserve to be rated above Valuev in my opinion. He arguably should have lost or at the very least drew with a very shot ex-champion who is not even a top 25 anymore. The same or similar statement could be made in regards to his last meeting with John Ruiz. His first meeting with Ruiz and Larry Donald were nothing to write home about either. In a strong era such as the 90's or the 70's, Valuev would not even be a top 15 contender. I know I'm sounding a bit harsh, maybe even unfair, but that's how I see it. He really is THAT BAD. Its a shame that a man of his great size and winning record can't produce more, but that's the way it is.

 

valuev's gotten old already, can't see why this is surprising since he's so huge. just take a look at the knee support but for a man his size he has a impressive workrate when he was younger and he'd beat carnera by pumping that jab all night long.

 

I never thought much of Primo Carnera ( and frankly still don't ), but he actually looks quite a bit quicker than Valuev on film, and sports a fair amount of respectable skills. He was also well accustomed to fighting in long range bouts, and could take a pretty good punch ( something Valuev doesn't even have. ) Also, for what its worth, he has a fair bit more height to work with that most of Valuev's opponents didn't. Therfore, the size deficit wouldn't be as much of a factor ( though Nikolay is still a fair bit taller. )
