A sturdy, hard nosed brawler who's been matched tough against against a domestic level fighter who likes to s****, competent for what he is if not a little fragile. Rose is the opposite of Jones in the sense that he can be considered a "lucky" fighter, not being matched tough on his rise to his current level in the game. Rather he has been matched up just "right" against fighters who's current level of deterioration flattered his abilities. See the Alcine match (British stoppage to boot) and the win against Vivian Harris. Most feel he deserved a L against Maciel as well. But, there's a distinct advantage to throwing a lot of punches and being a British fighter in a British ring. Carson blows hot and cold, looking great against fighters who peak at and around a ESPN FNF level ( Said Ouali, Ricardo Williams Jr) but also putting in uninspired performances like he did in his draw against Dean Byrne. But he's shown the ability to truly trouble and push world class fighters to their limit, something Brian Rose has not shown himself capable of. Thoughts, any and all?
Carson and Rose are both very unpredictable and erratic in their performance's, but I think if Rose is having an on performance he stops Jones.
The most concerning thing on Rose's record for me is how he has seemingly been put in there with nothing but non-punchers on his rise to the "top" super welter. For the most parts, I don't think there's such a thing as coincidences in boxing. Matchmaking in boxing is almost always a very methodical, calculated affair A list of just about all of his British opposition in the few years leading up to his match against Maciel, his first real step up Max Maxwell - 19-47 with 3 stoppage wins. One of them being Rose... Kris Carslaw - 4 stoppages in 21 wins Martin Welse - 1 stoppage in 12 wins Prince Arron - 5 stoppages in 23 wins
Hurm. :think Not sure I agree. Carson has made something out of himself after a rocky early career start. He's shown very good durability in recent years, and in his current form has only been stopped by Kell Brook after an extended beating. That includes having every possible advantage including a catchweight. He absorbed shots in both Kell Brook matches that would have put Rose in a morgue.
Its just a feeling I have, I think Andrade hits harder than Kell and that was a terrible style clash for Brian and the Maciel match he was able to take his shots quite well and Maciel is a decent puncher, it'll probably go the distance and if so I'd pick Rose to win on points but close.
Well no matter what Jones needs a KO. (though I kinda doubt he'll get it where La Bestia didn't) As precedent I cite him getting screwed in Brook I, and Maciel getting screwed against Rose.
Maciel beat Brian Rose clearly for me 117-111. Carson Jones is better but does he still want it and is he still effective at 154lbs. Rose on points for me, may or may not be fair.
True but Jones actually retired from boxing last year after evaluating his performances in the Byrne draw and Brook rematch. (and there was that embarrassing incident where he was scheduled to fight Said Ouali in BKB and came in 10lb overweight and had to withdraw)
