Mir also dropped Kongo the supposed better striker. Carwin has more power doesnt mean hes a better striker. Carwin is really stiff and doesnt have good movement nor defense and depends on just a right hand. Frank has good kicks, elbows, knees, gives angles, puts together good hand combos and uses his feet well. Everyone on this forum says Mir is overated so he cant be that overrated.
I used them a few times they got Mir Vs Lesnar II right would have made some money that night had Brock not Raped him
Well pointed out. However, Sonnen is a much better wrestler than Carwin and Mir is night and day better off his back than Nate. No, no he is not. Technically he is miles behind. He is just much slower
Will Carwin not follow the template that Brock laid down for beating Mir? Get him on the ground and use your brute strength to dominate. Don't get into any silly positions that will allow Mir a chance of a sub.
Not even just Brock. Mir has been smashed out on the ground by fighters with no wrestling pedigree (Freeman), pudgy jiu jitus coaches (pe de pano), a pudgy light hv (Vera) - you dont have to be a monster like Lesnar to batter Mir on the ground. I dont like criticizing him (and he has a great chance of beating Carwin who is a slightly overrated fighter himself, ableit one who fights in my fave. style) because I kinda like him as a fighter, but these mma math n00bs are too much.
jimmie, you can teach a 10 year old to shuffle around in a muay thai stance like Mir and throw ok kicks and punches. It should be clear that hes doing that on a low level though. Nog was the definition of a shot fighter. Kongo sucks. See this thread for a concise analysis of his skills: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147779
Kongo might have the brain of a elderly women with dimentia and the ground game of a low level whitebelt but he can still strike. The guy won a bunch of Muay Thai titles so he has some good standup skills not great but pretty good. Mir won that fight basically with that KD, a feint with the jab and an overhand left that he got good leverage behind and that obviously set up a Guillotine that only with a halfguard choked Kongo out. Good performence anytime you beat a guy at his own game. More impressive then Cain's win over Kongo IMO. Low level is way off mid level for sure its probablly top 5 in the UFCs Heavyweight divison right now.
