6-4 Marquez. Cas did well in rounds 8 and 9 and appeared to be getting back in the fight but JMM landed a lot of good shots in round 10 and finished Joel off in the 11th.
Thats more like it......its a pity that people dont find it within themselves to score a JMM fight properly. I dont know what it is, but it seems like if Marquez does'nt completely dominate a round, people dont want to give him the round.....:huh 6-4 and some people having the audacity to have the right scored even after 10?atsch I thought the first four round were much like JMM's early rounds vs MAB, competitive but clear rounds for JMM. Casamayor during these early rounds landed some good straight lefts, but in the midst of these Casamayor lefts, JMM was landing in combination while Casa was landing mainly with single shots. .....and lost in the shuffle with Barry Tompkins and the commentating crew tonight in those early rounds, was JMM's investment of sound shots to Casamayor's midsection. The best shots of those early rounds were body shots scored by JMM, yet the commentating crew never made a mention of it. In any regard, the first four rounds were competitive, but it seized to be competitive after that imo........JMM found the right distance, and got into a groove of throwing nice combos to both head and body. .....somebody mentioned in this thread that Casamayor was winning the 11th till the KO came....:rofl :rofl :rofl I had just mentioned to the guys I was watching the fight with, that Casamayor seemed to be on unsteady legs and dragging his punches, if JMM steps on the pedal, he's going to stop Casamayor.......not 2 seconds went by and Casa was on the seat of his pants... I kid you not! .....anyways, here's the breakdown of my scorecard, which unlike others, I always find it a must to give when talking scorecards...... .....Marquez won every round on my card but the 1st, which I scored even, and the 9th, which was the only round that I felt Casamayor's straight lefts landed more effectively than JMM's combinations. Casamayor scored witha a string of hard crisp straight lefts in that round that gave him the nod on my card. Overall, through most of the rounds, JMM shots were cleaner, harder, crisper, and he was the busier fighter in there landing in combination. I think some of you guys should give credit where its due.....though that was a Casamayor on the decline, I thought the fact that JMM became the only fighter to stop Casamayor was impressive! ........btw, I sure would like to know what the official judges scorecards looked like at the time of stoppage?
i agree with you.... i had marquez dominating with one clear round for casa, and i gave him 2 pitty rounds based on his nice lefts, but marquez was winning that fight clearly.... most people aint use to seeing a fighter like marquez who takes control of the fight with real skill...not dirty tactics, sloppy punching, ineffective aggression etc etc...marquez is the closest you will get to perfect nowadays and since he dont really dominate WITH ONLY ONE THING ALA CASA'S LEFT HAND or MANNY'S LEFT, most people dont give him credit at all.....juan is like finito, he dont have one thing to dominate you with, but the man has all the skill in the world to make it look easy :good :good
Reading the round by round was weird. There wasn't one round that went by where there was universal agreement on the winner. It was generally split 50/50.
Yup it was. Casa gave a good account of himself in the early rounds and was beating JMM to the punch thus he got some rounds there but JMM adjusted in the mid rounds and won virtually all rounds from there(except the 8th going to Casa).
This is an example of seeing what you want/expect to see in the fight. (Didn't you score the Tito-Jones fight for Tito?) My scorecard (and while I respect both fighters, I lean towards neither): 1. Casa 2. JMM 3. Casa 4. even 5. JMM 6. JMM 7. JMM 8. Casa 9. Casa 10. JMM Not that it mattered, I had Casa dominating the first two minutes of the 11th. So in total: 6-5-1 in favour of JMM at the stoppage. BTW: Two judges had it 5-5, and the third had it 7-3 for JMM.
No my friend, its a matter of judging a fight by who is being more effective. Marquez threw more, landed more, landed at a higher connect rate, landed harder blows, crisper blows, and landed in combination....... Marquez beat him in every phase of the game..... Competive for the first few rounds, but your scorecard is a complete joke, the fight was'nt even close!
The highlighted part is pretty funny, but it's your scorecard that's the joke. (not as far out as the Tito result, but still, off the wall) My card is much more in line with most of the responses on the forum, and the officials at ringside. I guess you just see the world through a different set of lenses.
I had it 5-5 with probably 1 admitted sympathy round. Felt there was some serious personal agenda in the round by round trying to elevate Pacs status.
Very good fight last night. I had Marquez up 6-4 going into the 11th. I could see having Marquez up 7-3 but I'm not sure I could give Casamayor more than 4 rounds. Good win for Marquez I would really like to see him and Juan Diaz next.
I had it 7-3 for JMM. It was a competitive fight but JMM was clearly getting the better of Casa. Landing the cleaner harder blows, controlling the pace, winning the exchanges, and had a higher workrate. It was almost clear in the mid rounds that the Knock Out would slowly come to Marquez if he kept it up and it did. I gave rounds 1,8, and 9 to Casa. A very good technical fight of the highest caliber. Glad to have watched it. :good
