WE THE FANS are getting ****ed over while GBP and HBO argue over revenue. Oscar, if he was a man/woman of his/her word would do this. OK, Casamayor and Sergio Mora. Certainly not PPV worthy. Does HBO BAD or WCB have a date? No date? Fine. We take it to either ESPN 2, or say FSN's Best Damn Sports Show. Lets say FSN Best Damn Sports Show has a slot, and ESPN 2 have a slot. The same week. So, the week of September 12th say, is a HUGE week for GBP. On Wednesday, GBP presents BDSP with Vernon Forrrest and Sergio Mora, world Title fight. The following Friday, on ESPN 2 it's Casamayor, and his opponent. Oscar is live in the studio, talking boxing, and talking the fight up. Would all 4 make as much? No way. BUT, MAJOR exposure, the fans are happy, and if all 4 make the best of the situation and put on entertaining wars, perhaps they are on their way to PPV worthy.
Casa and Marquez is not a ppv fight. Forest and Mora 2 atsch who wants to see that **** again. **** ppv card here I think I'll stick to the Showtime doubleheader the same night instead.
And thats your choice. I called (212)512-1208, EXT. 0 and had a conversation with a Rep about this, he was well schooled in PPV affairs. It's all about revenue and profit, and it's a collaberation between the Promoter and the Cable Giant. He told me if the numbers were ****, that PROBABLY those fighters wouldnt get a PPV date again, especially if both entities lost profit. BUT if they made money, to expect even more fights on PPV if the Fighters were just a little bit popular, or had a belt. It's like baseball. Lets pretend that NBC and ESPN Collaborated and made MLB/PPV for the Playoffs, and now all Playoff games were a PPV package. You would have disgruntled customers, and pissed off people, but you would still have some hardcore fans buying it, to see how their teams do. IF there was a profit made, you can bet your ass, that the following year, for the Playoffs, it would be all PPV and some Corporate Exec would review the numbers, figure which teams made the most PPV dollars, and perhaps those teams, might be all PPV from then on. Supply and Demand. If GBP makes even a small profit off of people like Bernie 5366, from what we consider an HBO WCB fight, well then, it is worth Oscar's while to fatten his checkbook by making the next Casamayor/Mora Blockbuster a 54.95 call your local Cable Operators Extravaganza.
Casamayor/Marquez isnt a PPV fight. The PPV numbers will be crap. Neither fighter has a big enough fan base.
Casamayor is nothing like Ricardo Mayorga. Mayargo is so entertaining prefight wise, I end up buying every Mayorgo fight, honestly. Poor Casamayor is nothing like that.
Oh yeah, This fight is defo HBO CB material.. Not PPV, Had Marquez got the victory over Pac in their last fight then....maybe?
