He might be old and past it but he's still a very dangerous opponent.

I can't believe people are still denying the fact that he is already light years past his prime, and even think he is still a player in the division.

When Sta. Cruz, at best a B-level, and Katsidis, a crude overhyped boxer, started stealing rounds from him, and both nearly beat him, we should realize it by then.

Plenty of options left for Casamayor and I wouldn't be surprised if he rematches Campbell sometime next year. There's also the other to hall of famers who are still hanging around-Barerra and Morales. Casamayor against either of them are big paydays and very winnable. He's clearly past his prime but still cagey enough to be a threat.

Don't you get it that he was being beaten by the great Katsidis before that sneaky punch and by Sta. Cruz before he was given a gift?

What do you think was the reason for that?

And these two are not even in the league of JMM.:deal

I don't know anyone who wouldn't say Casamayor is far removed from his best. But that doesn't mean he can't still make some money and win a few fights if he wants to hang around. 135 has a ton of options and he is going to be rated by everyone as a top10 or even 5 fighter still. Sure, I don't want to see him against Pacquaio(though he would for the money), or Juan Diaz, or JMM again. But why not face Morales, Barerra,Jesus Chavez, or the crude Valero? He can win all those and make some good money in the process.

You don't have to be in your prime to fight. Last night just furthered showed that Casamayor is far from his prime but that he still has enough to stay a threat if he picks his fights right.

He's crafty enough and slick enough to still be able to get by at 135. He's probably never going to be a top 10 P4P-er anymore but I don't think retirement is in the cosmos yet.

Maybe now he'll take a rematch against Nate like Campbell wanted after the Katsidis fight.

Againts the equally aging MAB. Morales, and Chavez, it would certainly be competitive but any other prime fighters, he would lose.

He certainly lost against Sta. Cruz, and nearly lost versus a limited and wild Katsidis.

He can still clearly fight becasue of his experience and skills, but it is obvious his age has been exposed in his last three fights, and would only be exposed further once he faces younger, active and stronger opponents, even if they are level below his skills.

The thing is, at this point, after seeing his fading performances in his last three fights, is he still a formidable player in the division? Someone who can win a belt? I doubt it.

I doubt he would take it. Or even if he takes it, he would be beaten badly that another TKO is not out of the question.

He looked like a tired beaten man against JMM.

Casamayor is definitely not the young fighter once he was... but he wasn't knocked out by his age but by Juan Manuel Marquez, and he did pretty good vs. the Top2 P4P-er before he got caught. So I think if he feels good in the gym for the hard weeks of training and in the ring, he should continue.

How about a fight vs. Juan Diaz on the undercard of Marquez-Campbell?

Nearly my ass on the Cruz fight. The judges mugged Santa Cruz.
I was so happy Casa got Koed. The big payback...

Forgive my above post heh. I only got to that one before I had to comment. I thought you might have been one of the delusional peeps on here that thought he actually won the Santa Cruz fight.

As for the topic, I don`t think he should retire. He is a bit past prime, but still has some skills.
