I think a prime Norwood had a better chance. Pre-Gainer that is. Any version of Norwood before Gainer had a great chance.
You must hear this alot and decided to use on someone else. No offense Jack but you are a very and i do mean very biased poster.
My bias against Americans? Like who? I rate Floyd highly but every time I pick someone against him, I get you or one of the other black American's accusing me of being anti-American. Same **** with Alexander, who people like you said I was biased about. I'm not biased against anyone based on their race, religion, nationality or whatever else. Not that I need to justify myself to you, but Andre Ward is a quality fighter and one of my favourites. My favourite fighter of al-time is Joe Frazier and Marvin Hagler, Ike Williams, George Foreman and many more, are amongst my favourites. It doesn't matter if he was better in every department. Styles make fights and Casamayor was an awkward fighter. You could look at Castillo and say that Mayweather had every edge on him, and you'd be right, yet Castillo still gave Mayweather a load of problems. Sugar Ray Leonard had every edge on Duran and still lost. It just doesn't work that way in boxing. It's not ****ing Fight Night, where the guy who has the most power automatically knocks his opponent out. It isn't a numbers game. Styles make fights and there is a genuine reason that Floyd's own dad told him to avoid top level southpaws. If nothing else, Casamayor was an elite southpaw.
I don't think it was his speed. It helped, yes, but Mayweather has always been great at negating others speed because he has unbelievable timing. The issue, is that when he is fighting southpaws, his stance changes, which then has an affect on his timing and rhythm. Mayweather has never and never will beat an elite level southpaw. I'm not going to say he's ducked any, apart from Pacquiao, but he hasn't fought them because it's too different for him. His style is only suited to orthodox fighters and given that he has to fight a different way against such an awkward, cagey southpaw? A loss isn't out of the question at all.
