Gonzalez clearly won both of those fights Carbajal looked frustrated in both fights. The part that shocks me is that he does not even make your top 5.

How many Gonzalez fights did you see please list them....

He was too good and too brown to get a title shot. Personallly, he beat the crap out of Miller who was the Champat the time in a non title match.

He was the first true National Boxing Hero in Mexico....Azteca was a close second. I always talk to the old timers and some of them rank him above Zarate....

Not to mention two broken jaws ( Espada & Weston). & a broken eye socket (Backus).

I believe Gonzalez won the third fight fairly comfortably. in the second Gonzalez was severly handicapped by a terrible cut. & dramatically rallied to outbox Carbajal in a close decision.

You know what you are right ... I remember that now I saw that fight the day of the fight and not since. I also remember Pendleton being carried out of the ring that day too.

Addie.... you were right at least about the second fight

WHat are you talking about he beat Carbajal 2 out of 3 defended his title several times, at one time Ring Magazine rated him the best puncher PFP. He is top 3 at Jr fly you can even make a case for #1 he even dominated ESB favorite Jung Koo Chang. Chiquita became well rounded later in his career just fell in love with his power early on. Only weakness was a so so chin.

Chiquita and Cuevas are top 15 Mexicans. Limon, Ramirez and were all top guys but after the 13 or 14 best there isnt much seperating about 20 other Mexican greats Ramirez might crack top 20 Limon top 25 Raton top 25?? but im not sure like i said lot of depth after 13.

Definetly Addie underrates Chiquita who was in the top 10 PFP for quite a while during a deep era. He was even as high as #3 by Ring and Ko at his peak.

JUst because you have a different opinion, asking people to list the fights they have watched( on the internet, no less) is one of the most pathetic things you can do.Get a grip.

imo, while Chquita and Carbajal were very good fighters who i liked a lot, they are perhaps the two most overrated jr Flyweights\Flyweights of the past 50 or 60 years.Maybe overexposed would be a more accurate term-especially in comparison to guys like Guty Espadas and Gilberto Roman, the latter two who were both better fighters imo, but either fought tougher, more varied competition in a shorter space of time and got worn down quicker because of it(Espadas), or didn't have their big trilogy against a high profile American based fighter like Carbajal(roman).

The overexposure and hype is etirely typical of Flyweights reach world class in front of an american audience(moreso for carbajal of course).Tim Austin probably the best recent example of that.

Flyweights due to the sheer volume of punches typically have short careers. Addie stated that Gonzalez was inconsistent... this is not true. As Anarci pointed out Gonzalez did not have the greatest chin.

In order to assert inconsistency you would need proof. By citing certain fights it would give me the opportunity to consider his Argument.

Besides Addie is thick skinned and I doubt he would not have taken what I said with a grain of salt.

Kwang Sun Kim, Yul-Woo Lee, Rolando Pascua, Carbajal Trilogy, Sourjatarong, Domingo Cordoba, Domingo Sosa, Luis Monzote, Javier Varguez.

I can gauge from the aforementioned fights than Gonzalez would not have beat the likes of Chang, Yuh, or Zapata.

I highlighted the first three because I think that shows Gonzalez's vulnerabilities during his prime, and I think he was inconsistent with performances.

    Thick-skinned? ...Calm down, chief.

I disagree with Lora about Michael Carbajal, who actually had one of the best resumes among all of the Light Flyweights. Winning back the title when he did, and how he did, against the opponent he did is huge, and it certainly separated him from Gonzalez in my judgment.
