No... I have never attributed a negative quality to you or your posts... I would never accuse someone of being a liar... If you watched all those fights and think he is inconsistent you have a right to your opinion.
Well what else would you call being knocked out by a B level fighter during your prime, and almost losing a decision to a fighter with a 5-0 record? This wasn't when he was on the slide, this was all amidst his peak years. Some people think Gonzalez winning the trilogy against Carbajal is what really sets the two men apart but Carbajal faced more former titlists than any other 108lbs fighter in history, and what he did against Arce was nothing short of spectacular. He pulled out a victory by knockout when he was essentially a shot item. He had nothing to offer that night, but he landed a big shot got a young Jorge Arce, a future three weight world champion, out of there.
What do you think about Rodolfo Casanova? ... hard to even find footage of him If you do let me know.
Well addie have did you see the Pascua/Gonzalez fight? If you did you would know he was on the A-Meth that night as he looked awesome you know about those phillipinos dont you? Na but serious Pascua looked anything but a B level fighter that night looked pretty hot hey happens to the best of them, i can go through a list of All time greats and pick fighters out that they had no buisness losing too. Not like Chiquita made a habit of doing so. Only other loss was the 1st war to agreat like Carbajal and he avenged it twice, and his last fight against Sorjaturong in a war in both those fights he was doing well before being kod. As for Kwang SUn Kim the 5-0 fighter you talk about well did you know he was a 2 time olympian and Gold medalist winner? Not some regular novice there, especially in the lighter weight classes where it seems hot olympians can do well right away against world class foes. Actually thats a good win on chiquitas resume.
Yes, I do know he was a 2 time Olympian. I also know he it doesn't change the fact he was only 5-0 when he was beating Gonzalez. The fact remains, I don't rate Gonzalez in my top 5 at Light Flyweight. Can you not just say, "Well, I appreciate the points you've made, but I disagree. It's all subjective"/
Yes this is forum dont get all defensive on me now:good Although i am of the opinion that Kim would have been competetive with just about anyone that night, although Carbajal did knock him out. Addie what do you think of my Palomino/Vargas comparison and my current project of rating past Mexican/American fighters? See my other threads your input would be much appreaciated:good
I like your ideas but I started the Mcguigan thread and plenty of people were giving me **** for ranking Carlos Zarate so high , making out he was a no talent bum, so i doubt you'll make much headway with your picks .... I like your picks though, brilliant fighters all of them, but perhaps not on a par with guys like Olivares, Chavez, Sanchez or ZARATE ..... Let me repeat that ZARATE !!!! :admin
Ask any old timer...about him. He was bigger than Kid Azteca... Anarci was suprised that he had never heard of him. Check out his record ... he is considered one of the greats in Mexico. Its hard to find video of him by the way...
****, well i'll have to do some digging. thanks for the heads up about him, always fascinating to learn about new fighters
