I believe he was 19 when that fight happened.

To his credit, JLL didn’t make an excuse for that. In his Best I Faced he named Oliveras as the best puncher he’d been hit by.

That is absolutely incredible considering Rockabye Ru was a natural bantamweight and Jose's best weight was lightweight. Thanks for the info, SaintPat.

For those who believe in the legitimacy of the punch (which I don’t) Ali ko Liston 1

Good call this. To be fair, Minter was past it, Sibbo always had good KO power.
Sibson’s KO of rising star John Collins is arguably one of his best in my opinion.

Jel, If memory serves me right, I believe Pedroza was 19 when that happened, and I also believe that that was at bantam. Could be wrong though.

    For sure Clinton.

I wasn’t knocking Ramirez and him being green totally justifies an early blowout loss to an animal like Olivares. In fact it speaks volumes that JLR never was stopped again and that it took a beast like Olivares to stop him anyway. Two top notch fighters and hard men!!

On the subject of Olivares, he was also the only one to stop Walter Seeley and he also turned that trick in 2 rounds.
